Starting out the year early & strong with the release of his debut EP EPIC, StankNasty is continuing the momentum. Poppin’ back out for a fresh hip hop beat, Stank releases BANGER with a few notable heads to contribute, to truly make it suitable to its title. Bringing in some serious players on production and engineering with Johnny Innuendo and Gerald The Genius L, delivering a piano and string heavy melody, trapped out with hi hats and beat work. Joining StankNasty on the mic is AMK with the chorus, an artist that really adds the perfect touch to make a banger, as he did with StankNasty once before with THE LORD KNOWS. Really growing into his shoes with this beat, StankNasty sounds more polished on the mic the more we hear from him, packing a mouthful of lyrics in a verse with ease, “we stay out howling, only getting louder, we drawing the crowds, we coming for the crown. So you ain’t gonna hear no mother fuckin hush from us.” It looks like he is still just getting started and you can hear it when he says “I’m hungry as f*ck“.
StankNasty is going BEAST MODE with a new single. Continuing his spree of tracks in anticipation of his EPIC-EP release. This track follows FOCUS ON THE PAIN and a Mikey B Collaboration HOLD IT DOWN. This song title is reflecting off of StankNasty’s effort this year in gaining recognition as an artist with multiple releases, consistently up until the last moments of the year. He really is on BEAST MODE, making moves happen. Always working with a fast word flow, “Big plans play the hand that I’m dealt I’ma run this shi* like Gambit. Gonna get no where by standing, Im the tree trunk ya’ll are the branches. I’m the type that you don’t want to clash with…” He puts in those raw braggadocios energy, showing no mercy on the beat, a true Nasty Anthem to get your playlist hype!
Back with another track, StankNasty is keeping his fire strong with a collaboration with Mikey B. Taking a familiar tune from the Verve, A BITTER SWEET SYMPHONY, turning it into a hip hop influenced tune with a new beat battern. Rather than the somber feeling the original tune is known for, the two artists turn it into a feel good track with their lyrics, on HOLD IT DOWN. Mikey B coming in speaking, “I ain’t trying to ride a first class flight, or live a first class life. Just tryin to reach new heights. Seein’ angels in the sky, leadin’ me on the path to greatness, as I overcome every challenge on the fly.” StankNasty ends off with a good note “Nothing but love in the game raise you glass now cheers, stay motivated, rise to the occasion and have no fear.” Another uplifting song to add to your playlist to keep your day goin smooth, in anticipation for Stank Nasty’s EPIC-EP.
There is always a driving force or a strong position an artist will place within the direction of their music. While StankNasty often conceptualizes tracks to different ideas or themes, there is one subject that he likes to revisits. Similarly to his tracks WALLS and TRAUMA, FOCUS ON THE PAIN treads over the topic of mental health, and how he copes as an artist. “Lookin at the man in the mirror, some time passes and you can see much clearer, pain is a phenomena we all done been thru. This pen helps me get this shit off my mental.” Even the opening lines of the song illustrates a strong context for dealing with stress, “God giveth and god taketh, why is it, when im not depressed I’m anxious.” Over a somber piano tune and a beat, StankNasty reminds us, even the best of us have our lows, but to move forward we must FOCUS ON THE PAIN, and try to find your strength.
StankNasty keeping the fire stoked with another new release, keeping up with the diversity in his discography! Presenting a different flow compared to his most recent tunes, StankNasty opens up his heart and mind! With many of his latest songs coming off energetic and braggadocios, like LIBRA SCALE, I KNOW I’VE WON, THE LORD KNOWS and his forthcoming EPIC-EP album single KNOW THE NAME, WALLS has more of a somber tone. With an acoustic guitar and piano chords harmonizing behind a hip hop beat and a vocal sample, StankNasty raps, “if I’m alone with my thoughts, its an eternal battle, that’s why I coach myself, like the prescription bottle rattle“. Similarly to his track TRAUMA that covers suicidal thoughts and behaviors, WALLS goes over the topic of mental health and treatment, only this time he connects with the listener on a deeper, more personal level about his experiences in his head and growing up.
StankNasty is proving more and more that he is unlike no other. With concept tracks released this year like CARNAGE and SCATTER BRAINED, music videos and singles like PREACHING TO THE CHOIR and THE LORD KNOWS, and collaborations like I KNOW I’VE WON and LIBRA SCALE, he is showing unparalleled work ethic and creativity! Even with the way he markets his music, building suspense with his upcoming project EPIC-EP by first dropping a song, and then a video trailer. KNOW THE NAME was teased at the end of summer as the first single to his upcoming LP, and now StankNasty just released his official teaser trailer for the full EPIC-EP project. You do not see much concept commercials for albums, let alone a trailer building up to the release, but StankNasty is proving to be an unconventional artist, creating a cinematic presence around his music.
Sometimes we need to step back and balance ourselves mentally, and whether you are a Libra or know one, there is guidance to be found in their peace keeping aura, as they have to ability to harmonize people and situations. Not ironically, music centers their life as well, and judging by the quality of LIBRA SCALE, this collaboration between Chicago artists StankNasty and Mic Fort, the two proudly embrace that of their sign! The hip hop beat itself is simple yet uplifting, none too wild or dull, as StankNasty lays down that Libra charm lyrically with the first verses. You can hear the free spirited side of the sign, and eagerness for fairness; putting the game on the libra scale, the two repeat in the chorus. Mic Fort on the final verses remind all of their significance, “Libra gang all season, all year… it’s written in night sky, destined for greatness!” Fellow Libras are in agreement as the tune reached 10k plays within 1st month of its release, so press play and join in on the celebration, it is Libra season.
Without hesitation, StankNasty releases yet another track this year, as we await the impending release date of his LP EPIC-EP. Withholding any more singles from the aforementioned project, StankNasty still has some loosies to give away before the big release! Just dropping a new one, THE LORD KNOWS, with AMK and producer Johnny Innuendo, the collaboration comes forward with a divine presence! With somber, operatic synths to mimic the energy of a temple of prayer, AMK hits the flow on the intro, and StankNasty follows up with the zeal of a rap prophet. “Even tho I got all the muscle, ya’ll want to keep on flexin’. When it comes time to hustle, I embody the perfection. I giveth and I taketh, though shall never disrespect him.” After experiencing his divinity, THE LORD KNOWS we will be blessed to hear some more!
Covering many concepts like fantasy, anger, confusion and confidence in his releases this year like SCATTER BRAINED, CARNAGE, ABOUT THAT TIME and PREACHING TO THE CHOIR and others, there is another to place awareness on! A tough and sensitive subject to traverse, but StankNasty dives into it with ease, as it is subject of growing importance among men and people in general! TRAUMA, the title of the his lastest release, is a feeling and experience all too familiar where it may concern Mental Health Awareness. StankNasty brings to life a story of trauma, a suicide, to which all parties familiar suffer a great deal emotionally. Opening up to how it affected close friends, and the warning signs leading up to the event.
Many artists tip toe around the subject to feign relatability, but lyrically, StankNasty does not shy away from the bitter truth of the pains of mental health. “Why the hell would someone choose to have such an affliction, and this includes anyone whos copes with addiction. These are real fucking conditions, since I was 10 years old this is the shit that I’ve lived with.” Placing awareness on how common the consequences of unspoken mental issues, it may help others feel more inclined to reach out for help. As StankNasty puts it so well in his lyrics. “Don’t ever be ashamed to go out and get some help… it’s important that we care for our mental health.” The depth in the music composition, and the harmony of the chorus, dials up the passion and tonality of the subject.
StankNasty gifts us another tune, following up on his last release and upcoming LP teaser track, KNOW THE NAME. Taking a step back and kickin’ it with this latest release MOVE, StankNasty brings out those cross faded, late night vibes with this trippy lo-fi beat. “Grab your girl, grab your guy, get your crew, lace those shoes. Sip your juice, we lettin loose, slide through, okay…” He sets the atmosphere for a night of memories, “keepin it Big Boi, Andre 3, Yea this jams so fresh, so clean” and he knows it, with how smooth he sliding in that reference to a couple great hip hop emcees . If this track makes its way to their ears, they would commend the balance of a smooth flow so packed with words and rhythm.
