T Honey is back with a couple of new singles this year and we are here for it. First hearing of T Honey at an Ever Evolved event at Subterranean, and got stuck on her since! Her voice is quite capturing, and we now we got some more records to play on repeat! Releasing HOW 2 MOVE first, it is a very dreamy, lo-fi beat introduced with a guitar melody, with a heavy reverb; something to get lost into! T Honey follows up with TIME PASSES, so you can fall in love with her voice all over again! TIME PASSES gets more action on the vocals, keeping the lo-fi energy of her previous release, but with more piano and bass this time. Something worthy of a Flume remix, if he ever gets a hold of this track, do your thing Universe! Her voice is wonderfully balanced with the melody in loop and the piano, like Chet Faker & Tove Lo had a baby. TIME PASSES will stand the test of time!
The long anticipated LP DEAD BY DAWN by YOUNG XAV has been received and it is bigger than expected! In the works since the release of his debut LP AFTER DARK, it is an extension of the 1st, completing the journey we are living vicariously through YOUNG XAV. Being teased with singles like WAYS TO DIE, MANIA FREESTYLE and KISS KISS BANG BANG, and interviews with the Ever Evolved platform and others alike, foreshadowing concepts and genres. There is a bit of something for everyone in DEAD BY DAWN, leaving each listener with a piece of his life within every song!
Earlier in YOUNG XAV’s music journey he was more centered on hip hop styles in his production and his lyricism, dabbling in R&B whenever. Making a decision to explore other sounds following his MANIA FREESTYLE, with his style, it seemed like it was bound to happen. Leaning towards more instrumentals, YOUNG XAV fittingly dips into more rock influences, without abandoning hip hop altogether of course. He balances it smoothly back and forth throughout DEAD BY DAWN in between other styles, creating a diverse and highly entertaining LP, there is no dull moment, despite its length at 13th tracks!
Introducing us with its title track DEAD BY DAWN, with a 80’s dark, electro synth-pop, Stranger Things vibe, featuring Aanjoulique on vocals, creating a mystifying energy. YOUNG XAV enters firing with a prelude as the beat switches up: “If I should die tonight, best believe i lived my best one, if I should die tonight please reflect on all my words, if I should die tonight please my momma love her tell my father… tell my brother…” Opening strong he keeps the energy going with ONCE UPON A TIME, keeping up the heavy hip hop bass. He then switches it up and dials down to something different and personal!
Continuing with a jazzy selection, the LIFE & TIMES OF XAVIER ROBERT opens up with soothing horn instruments and grand piano, as if in a 1920’s speak easy, leading you into the happenings of YOUNG XAV’s mind in his verses. The production of this track in particular sets it apart from the rest of the album, but is not the exception to its diversity. The following title, PLAY PRETEND keeps a similar melancholic energy, as XAV sings over acoustic guitar. Just the introduction of the full LP shows you how far YOUNG XAV has come as he has grown as an artist since his debut LP in 2019 and earlier releases. Whether he continues on this path or not, we are forever grateful for the talent we have been able to experience through him and look forward see what YOUNG XAV has planned next!
Coming across Ridley Victoria I find a multi creative women confident in her artful expression in modeling, singing and songwriting; a detail even most mainstream artists lack. Born in Chicago she started songwriting at the early age of eleven but it was not until she hit twenty that she took up singing professionally full time as she tells Fashionbugla Media in an interview. Mainly influenced by a fusion of hip hop, pop and R&B her recent work would blend into reggae, swing, dance and jazz. Just as a model takes up different looks and styles, Ridley can try on different genres and make it her own.
Since the release of her debut album only two months ago in June Ridley made time for more releases and collabs. Most recently, she brought out the soul and R&B on Slow Down produced by Eddie J. Showing off her vocal range across any genre and her consistency releasing quality songs. Her album itself is filled with catchy and dynamic tunes.
Pretty on Purpose or her POP album is a 10 piece energetic multi genre project and an impressive one for her 1st. Speaks volumes about her potential. Starting off with Vogue, a fitting intro for a singer and model, its upbeat and colorful and sexy. Dialing it back with Love Out a swing styled pop track with John Renaissance. You get to Give It To Me and you hear Ridley ride a raggae beat. Continuing into her album you continue to hear a range of styles with more local collaborations with Chai Tulani, Adam Ness and Me’Chelle. A powerful addition to a growing community of strong and creative women in Chicago.
Inspired by music at a young age through singing, this Chicago artist has transformed herself into the genre bending cello playing vocalist she is today. With a passion for her art and talent Sylvie Grace takes to the streets of Chicago on Michigan Ave and performs for the public. If you had the chance to greet her she is quite friendly! She frequents the studio when not street performing and has gained quite the reputation in the Chicago music community.
Collaborating with many locals from A Billion Young to Palmer Squares and many others, she assists with either with her cello or her vocals. Leaving her mark in sound around Chicago. On her own she works with a loop station a cello and sometimes a drummer. The combination results in soulful pop and R&B tunes with deep lyrics. Another beautiful example of Chicago’s many talents. Keep on the lookout for her single this coming February, a preview to her project Bloom coming in March.
Win and Woo catches the attention of PRMD label. Releasing their remix track for Violet Days who gained popularity with Hotel Garuda on their collab Fixed On You. Your Girl originally was an independent release until massive success brought them to PRMD. The Chicago duo did justice for the original with their rework.
November saw the release of another remix. LA duo Cosmos and Creature get the remix treatment, another couple of rising artist in the mainstream pop music spotlight. Getting a lot of attention from their hit single Young, Win and Woo swoop in and add the final touch. Perfectly maintaining the youthful exuberance of the original track, and creating a dance music anthem that can match the energy of Louis the Child & Icona Pops Weekend track. A combination of talents made timeless.
Louis the Child, serving you music that make you happy, teamed up with Icona Pop for their latest. Certainly a instant timeless record, Weekend is such a feel good tune. Filled with airy synths, Icona’s vocals and all the best memories you have ever made with your friends on a Summer weekday this track no doubt being sung loud every where this festival season. Recently returning home to Chicago for Lollapalooza selling out venues like the Metro left and right. With One Hundred and Three Quarter Thousand fans on soundcloud this duo is easily a Chi Town favorite and we cannot wait to welcome them back again.

By the looks of her facebook comments they would not now it But! This girl makes actual music and really good music too. They might be too distracted by her gracious look if they cannot find her soundcloud. Coming from Chicago Niykee Heaton is an artist that embraces body, mind and music. Whilst playing the guitar, she also produces and writes her own music! Not even a lot of mainstream artists can say that.
Best Thing Ever is a pretty catchy pop tune, released during her ongoing Bedroom Tour, which btw will be making a stop in Chicago on the 3rd of December at Concord Music Hall. Making a real cool diversity with this next song, KING, leans more on bass. Live shows must be a party. With excellent flow and vocal harmonics on the mic, it is written and produced yet again by the artist herself.
Niykee Heaton is making an excellent name for herself with her music and modeling, showing she is multi-talented. Alessia is Influenced by Amy Winehouse and would love to collaborate with Drake one day. Along with fellow Canadian Drake, 18 year old, Alessia Cara in from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Newcomer to the scene, she has already 500,000 streams in her first week debut breakout song “Here”. Before she was discovered in the music industry, Cara covered songs such as “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood, “Halo” by Beyonce and many more.
This new tune is definitely an #Antipartytrack. This goes out to all the people who don’t enjoy going to overcrowded parties where there is alot of BS going on vs. being a chill spot with a small group of close friends laying low. Alessia catches herself asking, why is she even there? It’s not her usual scene.
What’s Next for Alessia Cara
Cara stated in a recent interview her inspiration behind the song “Here” was that, “This one time I went to a party and while there, I realized how much I hated it, along with every other party I had ever gone to. We wrote about it the next day.” – Fader magazine. Alessia recently attended and performed at the Def Jam 2015 Upfronts showcase in New York City.
She is signed to Def Jam records and currently in the process of finishing up her upcoming project. AC is a new breakthrough artist, with a sound that is anthemic alt-pop, flipping from skateboard indie-rock to hip-hop swagger. More hits are coming soon as she works with top hit producers Sebastian Kole and Pop and Oak. Until then her fanbase is growing, be apart of that my friends, follow her below on her social media pages and Stay tuned for more ✌ 👋
