With Fight Club vibes in this music video for OPEN THE GATES, the heaviest hitters of Chicago hip hop make their presence known. MOECYRUS and Novatore of Azthmatix, connect with A.M. Early Morning to create a lyrically raw and gritty hip hop beat. Challenging in their words as they open with their chorus, chanting, “We love to talk shit, this is what we do. Know there’s a big gap that’s in between us and you. We came with AM to slay and bring mayhem.” Each artist spits their lines of braggadocios bars, over an ominous slow beat with a piano progression, and the atmosphere is perfected under dark skies in a graffiti laced alley, on an urban corner in the streets of Chicago, with Yung City Slicka Films editing to emphasize energy. To step up to these fearless three on the mic would be menacing, to say the least!
“Still an addict even though I don’t sniff coke. In love with rap, I’m buying beats until I’m sick, broke.” Novatore hopelessly deep into his art, is literally turning into a portrait in his latest music video for I’M AN ADDICT. Confessing his love for music, specifically hip hop and rap, Novatore expresses his passion over a dramatic hip hop influenced violin progression. The violin adds dramatic effect and a classical renaissance atmosphere, emphasizing passion for the art of music, as strongly as classical artists once were as they studied deeply and transformed music in their time.
With modern and some what flagrant language, Novatore’s unadulterated words expresses in his lyrics what histories greatest musicians expressed with their sounds. “When it comes to this music I’m like a crackhead, I know I’ll rock whether or not I’m making back bread.” The music video itself perfectly illustrates the energy of the renaissance period as Novatore dresses in their historic fashion, in traditional settings like an old dark church and rooms, sitting around candle light, or even inside a portrait with traditional frames, giving the hip hop track a timeless energy. Following up on music video releases of BLOODSPORT, UNDERRATED and an AZTHATIX ANTHEM with MOECYRUS, Novatore is looking to be imbedded in music history!
Regular collaborators, Novatore and MOECYRUS, deliver a strong boom bap hit in their AZTHMATIX ANTHEM song and coinciding music video. The single is the lead song from their collaborative 5 track project, FATALITY EP. The video features the two heavy hitting Chicago emcees strolling through Chinatown, culminating in comedic dream sequences. Novatore begins the track with lines such as, “Dropping hits, we coalesce, though we was opposites. Cop a zip and flip it, tripping when the profit hits.” A line about teaming up with MOECYRUS to make history with dope underground hip hop, and comparing it the rush of making money off of selling an ounce. Later Novatore drops lines like, “Severing heads like in Seven and box the cranium, I’m mainly undefeated, depleting you like uranium.” This is a nice movie reference with Seven (Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman) being compared to that of material needed to make nuclear weapons, basically that Novatore’s rap skill is lethal and ultimately atomic!
MOECYRUS pops off with the 2nd verse in the anthem with, “When I see that ugly smirk, I’m like woooo! I wanna hit that shit, mop the stupid out of idiot I’m on that shit!” Referring to all the ignorance that MOECYRUS has to deal with in life. “Me and Novatore we’re like pistol whips and robberies, hit you with the metal piece, infiltrate your salaries, siphon all your energy and snatching up your fans, if you’re inconsistent than you probably shouldn’t rap.” This is a great string of lines comparing the skills of the dynamic duo to that of armed robbery, grand theft and how they are so good that they will take other rapper’s fan bases from them, for lacking and not releasing music consistently. If you are familiar at all with MOECRYUS or NOVATORE then you know how accurate those statements are! The full 5 track ep is available on bandcamp by MOECYRUS and NOVATORE, the Fatality EP by AZTHMATIX.
From the South Side of Chicago, Novatore is known for his hardcore, hip hop style. You have probably seen his branding on a shirt at a local venue, in one of Chicago’s night life neighborhoods. Killin the mic with raw lyricism, filled with street wisdom and sinister thoughts, over heavy, boom bap influenced beats. Just recently releasing his latest LP, EMBRACE THE DARKNESS, you get a wild peak of what he has crafting in his mind.
With lyricism and flow that attracts fans and artists of underground and 90’s hip hop and boom bap, his skill eventually allowed him to work and perform with legendary artists Mobb Depp, Immortal Technique, Apathy & Celph Titled of Demigodz, and more. His circle also consists of some lyrically heavy, local Chicago artists. Inviting a few friends on board to add their verses into the album, MOECYRUS, Termanology, AC Delgado, The God Fahim, iLL Zakiel and Celph Titled, all compliment the energy of this the project.
Looking at the song titles itself, its looking like a wild ride, but to EMBRACE THE DARKNESS is what this is about. With production by C Lance, it goes by smoothly, and the lyricism keeps you entertained. “I’m trying to spit dope, but most of ya’ll don’t notice. I’m consistent with the wicked sick shit, I never broke the focus. Trying to invoke hope? Nah, im tryin to choke throats. Sometimes I spit to crickets, but I’m as rare as a locust.” And that is only to start off, VENOM off the bat gives you a taste of the dark nature of the this LP. If heavy on the beats and lyrics is how you like it, EMBRACE THE DARKNESS.
