Agent O has been on replay in our playlist with his latest remix! Coming across this Chicago electronic music artist through local channels, and his sound is instantly intoxicating. Taking aim at a Chomppa tune called DEVIL DANCE, a tune reminiscent to RENEGADE by Mustard Pimp. Agent O perfectly balances the manic high end sounds with a dirty bassline that you cant help but move your body to. A perfect tune for an end of the year playlist to get a party jumpin’.
Saladin is on fire with not 2 but 4 releases just in a month, but to no surprise, his output is consistent! Always keeping it fresh, Saladin easily wins a #1 spot on Beatports bass house charts mid November, and his answer to that was more music! The song of notoriety aforementioned was dubbed ANTHEM and got you moving to a bass house vibe, was supported by prominemt names like Don Diablo, Hardwell, Showtek & more! Following up would be two collaborations with DeLain and another hot original single!
When Saladin and DeLain get connected they create some G House and Tech beats. Shortly after ANTHEM, the two release KEEP UM, a personal favorite just for its hypnotizing sound, and most recently YA KNOW, which is on a whole different spectrum of energy. Mixing G House, Bass House with a heavy Hip Hop influence, YA KNOW can get anyone moving. Finally we have NEVER STOP, which was released in between the DeLain collabs, Saladin kept it straight bass all the way through. Solid additions to an end of the year party playlist
Black culture is a dominating foundation to many aspects of social culture and style. If you are an avid lover of house music, especially in Chicago, it is important to know that it evolved from disco, in gay, black clubs and communities, inspiring techno in Detroit. In a day and age where tensions are high, between a growing authoritarian police state in America and the public, particularly taking advantage of minority communities, Louis The Child, in the best way they know they can, releases a mix exclusive to black artists, to the tens of thousands of fans that follow them. Continuing their motto of music that makes you happy.
This mix contains a variety of genres of original mixes and remixes from house to hip hop and R&B. Hearing music from artists like Chicago’s own Green Velvet, Mick Jenkins, Joey Purp, Kanye West and Vic Mensa, they also add in iconic names like the late Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, A Tribe Called Quest, B.I.G., Wu-Tang and more. Being electronic music artist from Chicago, it only makes sense to pay homage to Chicago locals especially to its history. Without this evolution of disco in black communities, EDM as we know it could be drastically different, if in existence at all, for all we know.
This mix follows up on their usual flow of ridiculously catchy anthemic tracks and party tunes; Louis the Child does not seem to have an off switch. In their most recent remix, they chose upon Rich the Kid with a Kendrick Lamar feature by the name of NEW FREEZER from 2017. Completely flipping the beat up into wild, bass bumping, house track, that switches up dramatically with that classic Louis the Child, chopped up synth and hip hop beat pattern. They did not have to get that crazy but they made it their business! This follows up an original beat, NOBODY LIKE YOU, another vocal, pop, dance tune perfected by the voice of Vera Blue. If there is an off switch to Louis the Child hiding anywhere, let it be hidden; after hearing collaborations with Foster the People, this Chicago duo is unstoppable!
The two Chicago brothers, Eric and James Estrada of AYOO, are back again with a new original mix for your playlist. The two were having fun earlier in the month, passing out AYOO masks around the city, helping residents and fans with virus prevention! They follow up on their last hits, two different collaborations with Rico Act and RhymSter, named FREAK OUT and TIMELINE respectively. AYOO this time brings back the idea of an old era; the ROARING 20’s, released through Aural Sex Records, into our present 20’s timeline. With a bouncing house beat, some glitchy lyrics and some rumbling bass, it is enough to make you get up and kick your feet.
Ayoo is back with another great remix to follow up from their Wolfbiter and Saladin remix releases! Picking one of their favorite DJ and producer Virtual Riot. The artist from Germany is a well established name in the electronic music community and more specifically in regards to bass music! He has performed festivals around the world and collaborated with popular names like Modestep, 12th Planet, DirtyPhonics, FuntCase and way more. From the GERMAN ENGINEERING EP, Ayoo pick out one of their favorite tracks CHOP CHOP, and turn the heavy riddim bass track into an energetic electro bass house beat.
CJ Run, who’s pronoun is They, from the UK and residing in Chicago is back to releasing new music, since their HERE FOR NOW EP and LEAGUE OF MY OWN singles release. We have 3 new tracks and each one contrasts the last, in message and energy. Showing off their diversity in creativity and expression, CJ Run goes through a few layers of them self, deep in the lyricism. Between love, retrospect and attitude, CJ unravels and experiments with styles.
RUNS WORLD goes deep in the roots of being, what makes they, what makes you. Lyrics like, “reaching for the sky with the devil on my shoulder,” can be a metaphorical expression that can mean, maintaining ambitions and aspiration, while being realistic & aware to the nature of life and happenings; “days are getting longer, getting harder and I’m colder.” The song is paired up with THE MIDDLE & LOSE MY COOL, produced by shlatos this time, as opposed to Wize on the first track. CJ really moves in a whole different direction with LOSE MY COOL as it experiments with a dance beat, creating a dance-funk and soul energy, similar to Disclosure, that is just too hot, too flammable, so undeniable! Bringing attitude and sexual energy, you just might lose your cool.
Chicago duo Birthdayy Partyy is hitting the hot button with number of releases. Coming in with a couple of collaborations and a VIP track for your bedroom playlist, because we are going no where in this lockdown! Does not mean you cannot WIGGLE, like you can for their collaboration with Wenzday, published on Gold Digger, a perfect song for a night bass style collection. Or you can pick a FIGHT, published on Bite This! with Dirty Chime on that track, you can get your adrenaline pumping as the bass vibrates throughout the track. Birthdayy Partyy’s latest comes as a remake of one of their anthemic bass tracks HOUSE PARTYY, which gets a totally new boiler room energy about it, it is even more addictive with its sound than before.
Ayoo continues with their growth and experimentation with their sound and we are all here for it. We even got a closer idea of who their influences are for their music and sound in an interview with By The Wavs. Both Brothers naming mutiple artists, specific to no genre. From Dr. Fresch, Dom Dolla, AC Slater, Kid Cudi, Bone Thugs, Syn, Habstrakt, Excision and more, you can see why AYOO’s sound seems to be ever changing.
Recently releasing a huge collaboration piece dubbed FREAK OUT, and with a name quite commonly known in the Dubstep community. Rico Act performed and collaborated with acts such as Snails, DirtySnatcha, Sullivan King, Spag Heddy to name a few, and now Chicago’s very own AYOO works with the titan, as Benasis did a couple years earlier. Now this tracks name is to be taken seriously, because the three of them blended hip hop, and mid tempo bass to perfection. AYOO is no stranger to adding hip hop influence or vocals to their records, in fact you can hear the influence in all of their original tracks. This follows their remix of THE WAVE by WOLFBITER, and as you can see, another switch up in style as AYOO get bolder with their sound, what and who they work with.
Getting deep into the cold months for Chicago but Autograf turns up the heat with a new release! AINT DEEP ENOUGH lights that fire, that passion, in your body to make you want to dance like it is the middle of summer. The chorus repeats, “You got me going deeper, deeper, deeper, but it ain’t deep enough,” as if you must reach further into your soul than ever for that pure love, that energy. Jared Lee perfectly compliments the piano chord progressions and melody, leaving Autograf with another addictive track.
Consistenly bouncing back and forth between his old and new style of dance music, Kaskade has the ear to satisfy just about anyone. Following his REDUX 003 DELUXE release, the Chicago native is back with a deep house beat. Teaming up with Lipless, MY LIGHT starts dark in tone with feminine vocals, brandishing “You are my light” into your head, up the the climax. The main body of the track is a gentle but dark bassline humming under melodic synth work, giving off a very sensual and mysterious energy!
