Since the Siren EPand discovering over his Aural Psynapse remix of Deadmau5, Jeff Hartford has shown his versatility as an artist. Better known as ATTLAS, the artist has made a series of originals, remixes and collaborations with some big names like Aphex Twin. Recently he took it upon himself to give Gallant’s Weight In Gold with a beautiful transformation into ATTLAS techno house music.
With Scene EP we learn of his cinematic spell and his ability to carry emotions through sound! Now we got a trilogy goin with ATTLAS’s 3rd EP ‘Sin’. Continuing with his epic sound Jeff is filling up his portfolio with more vibrant and even heavier tunes this time around. Starting with one of his earlier tracks Parallel Lines is a vocal transformation of Taylor from his Siren EP and continues to Burned and darky gritty techno track. This dark pattern of deep basslines and harmonious synths continues to form a magnificent techno EP. Check out the Soundcloud preview of listen to it in full on Spotify.
The silent but talented Attlas, also known as Jeff Hartford, is back with another EP, Scene; What a smooth yet gritty combination of sounds and vocals this one is. Getting better and more in depth with every new track we get to know a little bit more of Attlas every time. Not by picture yet, those are hard to piece together from facebook. We do know that not only is he a talented artist but a generous one. Since we last mentioned Attlas he gave away remixes, singles and a surprise collab!
One of his more recent free singles, Chemical Low Moan is dark techno house tune with smooth progressions that flip into deep hypnotic basslines and synth work making a great tune for the dance floor. He also meddled with a rework of America by Xylo, giving it an epic cinematic feel to it. Rhianna‘s track Bitch Better Have My Money got a face lift by Attlas as well and he pulled it off in his very own temperamental style. Finally the most exciting release would be Make A Baby, a collab track with the one and only Aphex Twins where you can perfectly hear how to they worked together combing sounds and styles, absolutely brilliant track.
But once you take a look, or a listen, at Scene you will see why Attlas got the great opportunity to work with Aphex Twin! He has an extraordinary ability to carry your moods through sound. Being inspired by movie soundtracks, as you can really hear, he truly can make a song sound cinematic. Almost as if you were on an adventure in a movie yourself. Without sticking to a single genre restriction Attlas is able to create an EP with a combination of energies, tempos and sounds high and low, I would make Jeff blush if I described. His music is always a great experience, is style is surely one of a kind; Attlas is proving to be a very talented getting him some good attention. We look forward to his future tracks but for now take a listen to Scene.
A man of few words, this seemingly anonymous artist ATTLAS is all about his music. It is all he has shared with us so far, but we are not complaining. His music is quite breathe taking. All ATTLAS provides us with is a profile pic, a few teaser trailers and links to his music. A few speculated the artist to be Deadmau5 himself, others deem it to be a man by the name of Jeff Hartford. Either way it is refreshing to see an artist put more focus on his music than anything else.
First making noise with a beautiful remix of Aural Synapse by Deadmau5 for 5 Years of Mau5 a few months back ATTLAS has since been signed to mau5trap and been busy with music. Soon after releasing a bootleg remix of Tove Lo‘s Scream My Name. You can get both tracks for free on his soundcloud.
Most recently he had a feature on We Are Friends, an artist compilation album on mau5trap with Sabs as the first song starting off the lp with really energetic and deep basslines. And finally ‘Siren’, released about a week ago, is an ep filled with wonderful sounds and compositions ranging in energy and tempo that should definitely be in your playlist. It is simply amazing. So follow him on soundcloud, linked below, and find out how you can get your paws on it.
