You Can’t Imitate Smino

Chicagos favorite hip hop and R&B emcee from St. Louis is back with a flawless project. His modus operandi is undeniably one of a kind. Smino is a true connoisseur in the art of seduction. Listening to NOIR will make you invoke your inner suavemente like no Drake song ever could. Starting off strong it took myself a few hours to get past the first half of this LP.

When I say flawless I mean there is not a single second of music you would want to skip out on. From the beats, the lyricism and quick witted wordplay to the commentary, NOIR emits the perfect vibes for a weekend away with your main chick smokin’ trees or whippin’ around the town with the boys pickin’ up some honeys; an audio vacation. With the homies Jay2, Bari, Dreezy and Valee¬†on a few tracks and production by the one and only Monte Booker you will not need any other wing men. And course what Zero Fatigue project would be complete without a Ravyn Lenae feature with a voice so sensual. Set the vibe right with NOIR.

Smino & Monte Booker Meets T-Pain

They two are instantly recognizable, Smino voice and style is one of a kind. Monte Booker unique production style is fresh and original. The two artists working together, that is an untouchable force! Their history go back before BLKSWN, Soulection. Before Kajun was on Menu. From the start these two did not miss a beat to completely take control of and influence Chicago Hip Hop.

Monte Booker himself has a an army of local artists like Jay2, Saba and others to credit him; not that he needs it tho. His music speaks for itself. So much so the best kind of unexpected manifested; a collaboration arose over a Smino-Booker collab track from BLKSWN. Following an invite to share the stage with none other than T-Pain, the two drop a remix. Anita gets a new flow from Smino and with T-Pain on the beat it add a new layer of energy.

Sorbet on the other hand is a produced by Sango, preluding with a Happy Birthday recording by friend Akenya and that rides into a smooth jam. Smino hops on the beat doin his thing with Birthday confidence as he instructs to enjoy, dance and smile to it! Raw track to be heard . Meanwhile while we wait for new music you can follow Smino on IG closely as hes traveling between shows and podcasts radio shows and the likes.

Chicago’s Hit Machine: Monte Booker

Monte Booker, coming out of Chicago, celebrated recently over a million overall plays on Soundcloud with over 18K followers. Thanking his fans and supporters with New Chapter. A track with a beautiful synth and woodwind intro building into glitchy sound effects and beat patterns. A smooth track to vibe to, with a title that keeps you looking forward.

Monte is making a lot of noise with his style of future bass and hip hop production. Collaborating with popular artists from Chicago, gaining some notable attention. Most recently got a feature on Pitchfork, a highly reputable music medium, with a collaborative project with Ravyn Lenae called Baby. The track itself was part of a larger project on Soulection; the 16th installment of White Label, an EP influenced by jazz and flying lotus. The project includes 2 more original tracks and another collaborative effort with Smino. Monte Booker also had the opportunity to produce Smino’s five track EP BLK Juptr.

All that done within the last couple months only. Monte releases another collab project in that time span. Being busy recording with another Chi-town artist Jay2AintShit. Contrary to his name Jay has some energetic vocals that empower Monte’s intricate beat work. The two flow well together in their finished project Gina. By himself Monte is a force, keep an ear open for his music this year.
