Marko Stat$ and Aced Spade are quite the pair. An MC needs a good beat smith and whenever these two get together it is dynamic. Stat$ with the old school free style hip hop flow, this rising artist from Uptown, Chicago is gonna show these supposed Hip Hop and Rap artists in the mainstream how its done real soon. Young Label from Chicago, Nuworld is growing with talent from the city. One of the many artists of the label Kayo teams up with theMIND on a smooth beat by Donato. Released in late October a music video for Like That follows just a few weeks later. Simple idea for the video produced by Cole Bennett, similar to I Wonder music video, all that as needed for a quality video is a familiar environment and some enthusiasm. Spittin verses out in a park with nature for visuals and a few time lapse edits for a good mood setting. Putting the focus on the artist and his lyrics.
Will Is Chillin’ but he is preparing. Just about a about week away from dropping his album Moody the hype is building. Recently releasing an amped up track Bimbo, with DRO on production this only follows a few collabs. Spittin a few verses on Emoji Hand Sign from Scabbers recent EP as well as Glassics both from Chicago. Also got together with Treatment x Rapid Eye from New Age Music on a beat produced by Yellowjacket. Will has paved a pretty consistent trail of music leading up to now.
In comes Loosifer. A peak at his newest project. He raps about a mindless addiction to the White Devil, the cancer sticks, the cigarette. But in the end our sweet mistress Mary Jane takes the cake as always. The music video personifies the metaphor with a gorgeous brunette in white, puffin away at that Loosifer. How can you resist? New album Moody dropping December 1st. The video is Directed by J.Krown with Production by Josh Grant.
My Gold Mask releases a this colorful piece of visual media for track off their forthcoming album Anxious Utopia. Dissipate is their second video release and preview of their forthcoming album generating a lot of anticipation here in Chicago. (Left to Right) Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Adam “MCA” Yauch formed this iconic Hip-Hop/Punk Rock group in 1981 at Yauch’s 17th birthday party. Ad-Rock was actually added to the group later on in 1983 replacing an old member of the group. New York is their home, New York is the city where it all started for these 3 guys.
When their first EP, Cooky Puss, was released it quickly became a hit in New York underground dance clubs and night clubs upon its delivery. It was first their first piece of work that fused together the underground rap phenomenon and the use of samples of prank calls.
Due to their success with Cooky Puss they hired a college student as their DJ (Rick Rubin) and started performing at venues all over the New York scene. Rubin produced their next records under Def Jam and Capitol Records, the rest was history in the making as they continued to record and tour around the world. U2 is a group rock band that formed in Dublin, Ireland in the late 1970’s, a time before most of us reading this were even thought of. U2 formed in 1978 when drummer Larry Mullen posted a note on a bulletin board looking to form a band. The members are Bono (Lead vocals and guitar), The Edge (Guitar), Adam Clayton (Bass guitar) and Larry Mullen Jr. (Drums). This Irish rock band started out with a post-punk sound then exalted to many other genres of popular music. U2 has many different elements in music that target spirituality, philosophy, human rights, inspiration, sociopolitical themes and personal subjects.
A “Song for Someone” is the third single from U2’s latest album, Songs of Innocence. A tender song of awkward first love that is about Bono’s wife Ali; the couple first met when they were teenagers. “If there is a kiss I stole from your mouth,” he sings. “And there is a light, don’t let it go out.” They are still married to this day.
In their many of years of success, U2 has sold millions of albums with #1 albums in the U.S. and in the United Kingdom. They have earned Grammy awards, collaborated/wrote for many other musicians and joined soundtracks for major films (Batman Forever). They are also activist in many organizations for different countries all over the world.
U2 just finished their Innocence and Experience 2015 Tour . It opened in Vancouver, Canada in May and came to an end in Paris, France on December 7th just in time for the Holidays! U2 is still alive and kicking, listen to their lyrics to understand who they are. Still don’t know who they are? Follow them on all their social media pages or Ask your parents!
“You know what? Last time you said that, I was kinda trippin’, right? But now, you’re right. I am crazy. And you know what else? I don’t give a fuck”. – Bishop
This is a quote from Tupac’s character Bishop from the 1992 movie “Juice” which starred this legendary Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. It has currently been slated that music video and film director Benny Boom will be the new director of the biopic “TUPAC” that is said to be released in Theaters in 2016. Before we all see the movie next year, here’s some facts on 2Pac before and after his death.
Recording Artist 2Pac was born on June 16, 1971 in New York City. Shakur’s parents were both members of the Black Panther Party. His parents militant style and influential beliefs for civil rights eventually stuck within Pac which also nursed his inspiring music. At the age of 13 and Tupac enrolled in the Baltimore School of the Arts before dropping out at 17. Shakur broke into the music business with rap group Digital Underground as a back-up dancer, rapper and roadie. At the 2:20 mark, 2Pac shares his verse in the “Same Song” tune. Eventually Shakur released his first solo album in ’91, 2pacalypse Now,which faced social issues in America such as, racism, police brutality, poverty, black on black crime, and teenage pregnancy.
While he was most famous for his rap career, 2Pac was also a gifted actor, poet and a thoughtful outspoken advocate for the poor and the overlooked people in America. 2Pac’s unapologetic lyrics were relevant, important, and reflective of the hard lives led by many. His music earned attention and respect through a poetic style that embraced street vocabulary while being innovative. Tupac leaves a legacy of honest passion in his songs despite his run in’s with the law, East-Coast West- coast beef with another famed Rapper Notorious B.I.G. and his untimely death on September 13, 1996. He is respected by many and has become an inspiration for artists and a standard in rap music history.
AuX AR or simply AR who is already planning on dropping his EP Educated Low Lives mid December releases a music video prior to, representing Chicago. You will hear him rap about the hard ships and the struggles. You will hear him rap about the strengths and loyalty. All of what makes Chicago. He knows what its about, hes surviving. In fact AR got an opportunity to open for Curren$y at Portage Theater as Triangle Offense, a side project with Mike Booth and Rhymster from Ever Evolved studios. He knows his way around this city, surviving.
Miss Chiff has a powerful message for women and the music industry in this one. This Hip Hop MC is straight from Chicago so you know she is not afraid to say what is on her mind. Aided by fellow female MC Fury, the two artists take on misogyny and objectification of women in the music industry. Some female artists appear to take part of the whole scheme for money and fame at the cost of their image and the youth, these artists take the problem head on. This has been a problem in Hip Hop especially for years and battled by powerful women like Lauren Hill, and fury mentioned Lisa Left Eye Lopez from TLC in the music video.
