Coming across fresh faces in Nobatoby! Releasing a music video recently and bringing summer energy back into our lives. Using a song off their debut EP BRAIN STORM, the Chicago artists create a visual water park experience, creating a nostalgic vibe with the combination of music. Taking advantage of the empty amusement rides in NYC due to COVID circumstances. Adding to the diversity of Chicago music, alternative indie rock music fans would enjoy this, with a similar sound to Smashing Pumpkins and the likes, GO DOWN it is already on replay here!
Lucky Iris welcomes you to sounds of electro-indie pop, debuting their music with their first EP, TURNS OUT WE SHOULD HAVE STAYED HOME, with the help of Oliver Sekunda on production. A concept project based around a night on the town, and figuring it best to stay home sometimes! Coming from the Leeds music scene in England, they present a fresh perspective through their music. With influence from artists like Alt-J and Laura Mvula, Maeve & Jasper of Lucky Iris come with a unique sound.
At just four tracks, the project is short but full energy, starting out with GET READY WITH ME, an upbeat song about the curious energy of a young girl. Followed up with a more melancholic track over piano chords, TAKE 5 (WHY CAN’T YOU SEE ME) explores the feeling of being surrounded by people, yet being invisible to someone significant. GLITTER VISION is a favorite for its production, the track starts off like an electronic house beat, followed up with pop vocalization, and changes up tempo and ups the bass, flipping the energy around. Their debut gives us enough to see, Lucky Iris is dynamic and full of potential, and we cannot wait to see what they have for us in the future!
One of the things find most exciting about being a music fan is continuously discovering brand new artists. The most recent addition to that list is Chicago pop-rock band The Mild West. They just dropped an instant hit with their debut single entitled ORANGE GROVE, which is why they are this week’s Artist of the Week.
On ORANGE GROVE The Mild West show a great deal of musical cohesiveness as the instrumentalists move steadily as a unit. The pulse of the song is consistent as it is contagious. This is definitely a song you can get down on the dance floor to. Lyrically The Mild West show a great deal of maturation as well. Despite the carefree, poppy aesthetic, ORANGE GROVE is a poetic tale that paints a vivid portrait of a growing love story. The lines are pensive and contain a logical flow.
Though they only have one single out The Mild West is definitely a band to watch on the Chicago scene in the coming years. The Windy City has a rich history of commercial music and The Mild West look like they will surely help carry on that tradition. In a city whose music scene is as crowded as Chicago’s, it is surely exciting that bands such as The Mild West are coming up with their own sound in 2019.
“Orange Grove” is now streaming on all platforms.

Alessia is Influenced by Amy Winehouse and would love to collaborate with Drake one day. Along with fellow Canadian Drake, 18 year old, Alessia Cara in from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Newcomer to the scene, she has already 500,000 streams in her first week debut breakout song “Here”. Before she was discovered in the music industry, Cara covered songs such as “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood, “Halo” by Beyonce and many more.
This new tune is definitely an #Antipartytrack. This goes out to all the people who don’t enjoy going to overcrowded parties where there is alot of BS going on vs. being a chill spot with a small group of close friends laying low. Alessia catches herself asking, why is she even there? It’s not her usual scene.
What’s Next for Alessia Cara
Cara stated in a recent interview her inspiration behind the song “Here” was that, “This one time I went to a party and while there, I realized how much I hated it, along with every other party I had ever gone to. We wrote about it the next day.” – Fader magazine. Alessia recently attended and performed at the Def Jam 2015 Upfronts showcase in New York City.
