With a unique style, Mojek is just starting and his music career is looking promising.
Four Guys (Left to Right) Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and Jarobi wore hip Afrocentric clothes and rhymed to jazz infused beats, formed a phenomenal hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest in 1985. QUEST was the original name of the group but was later given the prefix A Tribe Called by their high school friends.
ATCQ formed a crew with House music group Jungle Brothers and hip-hop group De La Soul, called The Native Tongues. Because of their live energy during performances, they created a buzz in the city of Brooklyn, New York which led them to get signed with Jive Records in 1989. This began the journey of a rap group prodigy for the 1990’s decade.
A Tribe Called Quest made it popular to talk about social issues that could be related to young African Americans such as sex, politics, relationships, stealing your parents car to joy ride and also the use of the N word. while still having fun encouraging positivity through it all. Unlike other hip-hop groups at the time ATCQ was in their own lane. They greeted jazz with bass-heavy rhythmic vibes and eclectic sampling. They have several memorable songs including Bonita Applebum, Can I Kick It and (above) I Left my Wallet in El Segundo. When you listen to ATCQ music what message do you get from the song? How does the beat make you feel?
At this current time, A Tribe Called Quest is still performing at some events, making appearances with their old school friend’s on stage (Busta Rhymes, De La Soul) and new school artist as well. On November 13, 2015 they released a special 25th anniversary edition collection of the group’s classic debut album People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm.
The album is a cool artsy looking trunk filled with remastered original tapes re-released with exclusive new remixes by a few of today’s biggest hip-hop artists who have credited A Tribe Called Quest as a major creative influence. Unfortunately it has sold out everywhere at this point so you may have to borrow a friends. Until then they are on social media so follow them below. It’s the Tribe Yall! Real Live Yall!
Sharksquad head master Jauz and electronic beat smith Marshmello team up on a remix. Need U (100%) is turned into a garage house track with trap and juke influence. The bass heavy Jauz and future bass mellogang idol pump a soulful Duke Dumont dance track with some energy fit for a wild party. While the sharksquad may have gotten to a plump 200k+ following gettin buck on some of Jauz’s more in your face anthems, they can adapt to Mello sounds which have gained a solid 150+ following. Good music well recognized.
“Qandisa is a Moroccan goddess of love and lust. And that’s dichotomous. By definition in dichotomy everything in two subsets must belong to one part or the other and at the same time nothing can belong simultaneously to both parts. That should be the case with love and lust. In love there’s got to be lust, while lust itself can exist without love.”
A beautiful description of the title EP Dichotomy by Umek. Just two tracks to add to your playlist, the title track and Qandisa, the goddess. But every bit is ever so addicting. Umek is truly a King among Techno house artists if there is not one already. One that treats his fans nicely. All over 2 million of them get a nice preview for Christmas of his upcoming track Console Generation.
This is my new track – coming soon on 1605 – MUSIC THERAPY! Maybe you'll hear it tonight in Ambasada Gavioli.

Techno producer Pablo Say has come out with a myriad of releases this month! For those of you unfamiliar, Spain is where this artist originates and at a young age of 16 Pablo discovered electronic music mixing through vinyl records and playing at clubs around Valencia, just like all of us. Since then he shared the stage with the likes of UMEK and had his music shared with other big names in Techno music like Carl Cox, and Richie Hawtin.
Within a months time Pablo released two separate packages of music! Moti On, a 4 track EP, was released on Truesoul, a label by Adam Bayer. Four of some of the most hypnotic techno tracks you will hear. Red Chamber, the leading track on the EP, was ranked at #88 on beatport top 100 Techno tracks.
Most recently Pablo released Oncle. A 3 track EP that was released under his friend Dennis Cruz‘s label Lemon-Aid Music. Another few of head bobbing techno house tunes to move your legs too. Just as he released Oncle Pablo is also getting prepared to let loose a track on Toolroom records compilation BPM Sampler 2016. You are lucky enough to get the preview for now you have a total of 7 songs to cruise on in your playlist. Hang tight!
If you are for a ‘nothin’ but music’ kind of artist then LVNDSCAPE is your man. Not much to know about this artist, just releases very chilled and smooth melodic deep house and we do not mind one bit. LVNDSCAPE recently released his first original single featuring Joel Baker on vocals on Source Recordings. Speeches is a beautiful chilled out track with passionate heartfelt words of questioning loyalty over melodic synths and brass horns. Not unknown to Source, LVNDSCAPE work with a few collab and remix projects for the label. Soon after the release the official video was posted to Spinnin Labels Youtube channel, and equally heart warming video appropriate for the song.
Chet Faker is one of the many talented artists coming out of Australia. Winner of 5 awards at Aria awards 2014 including best male artist, Best Independent Album and the likes, Chet writes, produces and records his own music. A talent worth note. His music features on Future Classic and they been sharing around some recent work and collabs.
Marcus Marr has come out of studio hybernation reversed, when it starts getting cold out, with the help of Chet Faker. The two artists are working on a collaborative project Work, releasing Trouble With Us and Birthday Card as a little taste. The EP is set to be released on December 4th. Since Marr’s last project Brown Sauce released over a year ago he has been touring, doing gigs here and there like episodes at the Boiler Room. Has not lost touch as you can hear with these two tracks, deep house and techno done right.
The mysterious yet eloquent masqueraded figure known as Claptone releases his LP full of funky techno and deep house tracks recently and does it proper. There is always a very smooth balance between old school house music and contemporary. But when he drops those basslines its over. You will not stop wigglin.
Each song gets progressively better as it goes back and forth between highs and lows. As you get a feel of the album, your soul starts to feel it by the time Heartbeat kicks in with the smooth vocals of Nathan Nicholson. Building energy with Peter, Björn and John on vocals in Puppet Theatre into the groovy Leave Your Light with Young Galaxy. Claptone has picked some unique talent for this album, they work perfectly and there is a bunch more down the tracklist. Jaw, Jay Jay Johnson, Jimi Tenor, Bavanandan to name a few. Yea by the 13th track you will have fallen in love with this, Charmer LP.
It was a matter of time but eekkoo has broken the bonds between him and mau5trap records to go onto new horizons. Since Joel AKA Deadmau5 has called upon eekkoo to work with him for his skillful production, eekkoo has been releasing some of greatest techno you will hear out of one artist! But with all that knowledge in music production, mau5trap records was only the beginning step to a stairway to great success!
One of his first releases on a new label eekkoo takes ANNA‘s Drum Machines Do Have Soul from Turbo Recording and gives it a darker sound with chopped vocals, downdriving basslines and analog synths. With original mix the Killing, eekkoo keeps the techno on the uptempo side with claps, hihats and choppy vocals. This hypnotizing dance track is out for a free download, sort of a courtesy.
Most recently, eekkoo has made another remix. This time he joins Anjunadeep family for this release. On the 23th of October Lane 8 released a remix album of his house track Undercover featuring Matthew Dear. Including a few deep house tracks remixes by Wankelmut and Yotto, eekkoo’s techno rendition stuck out the most.
Busy month for A-Trak this month releasing up to 3 originals, collabs and remixes. The man known for his scratching abilities on the deck and multiple championships at DMC World DJ Championship. Feelin extra creative after working with ZHU on a raggae track A-Trak took on Disclosures work with Lorde and made it even more addicting. Also making a collaborative effort with Zookfunktion on Place On Earth, released off Spinnin’ Records. Keep making them house hits A-Trak.
