Golden Features XXIV EP

golden
Released on the 17th of June one of Goldens’ recent masterpieces and highly anticipated release, the XXIV EP, has been completed. Since then Golden Features has launched his XXIV tour across Europe and is now heading to North America to grace his fans with his new music. With the overwhelming support of the EP Golden felt generous enough to give it away as a free download on his soundcloud for seven solid days. If you have not grabbed it by now capitalize on the opportunity! This is a must have.

The four track project is complete with smooth synths and dark hypnotizing bass lines that every fan of Golden Features should be familiar with by now since his debut self titled EP.  To start it off Baxter, which was streamed on soundcloud for the public prior to the release date as a teaser, is a glorious reawakening to Goldens vision of musc. With a long dark intro with vocals to put you into anticipated euphoria and its eventual lead into dark metallic basslines, it prepares you for the series of tracks starting with No One with vocals by Thelma Plum. A little more energy with catchy vocals and deeper bass lines, No One with echo in your head for days. Then you have a collaboration with vocalist K.Flay with more uplifting beats and synths under her lyrics and finally Golden settles you back down with Do You? Getting you back into dark basslines and a hypnotizing synth that is just mental. This EP has definitely surpassed its hype and should keep us satisfied until the craving for more new Golden sets in.

Golden Features Teases XXIV EP

Golden Features continues to tease his fans with sounds beyond our imagination. Recently, taking to soundcloud, Golden drops another track with ominous tones and deep basslines from his upcoming ep XXIV. Featuring Thelma Plum, a perfect voice for Goldens style and sound, No One is a track to send chills down your spine and a groove in your step. Just the second track he revealed of his new EP following Baxter, Golden is building the anticipation for XXIV with the release of this track and more recently a tease of another track just out of reach. With a short 15 second clip of what looks like a rotating silver boxer and the sound of a third new track with a dirty bassline, it is safe to say that Goldens new ep will not dissapoint one bit.

A New Era of Golden Features

Golden Features comes out of the silence to present us with long awaited present, some new gold. It has been about a year since we last heard some original Golden Features music, when he released his self titled EP. But at long last, Baxter it got the blood pumpin and the head bobbin. It starts with an eerie intro to back your excitement, unraveling into vocals ringing sweet words into your ears. Finally with the beat of the drum, a final climactic push to deliver that raw golden bass. A dedication to someone significant it holds great meaning to the artist himself, you can hear the passion in the music. A perfect introduction to his upcoming  XXIV EP.

Now XXIV is not here yet, but it is coming, a new wave of Golden Features music. But we got a good taste of it and plenty of Golden to listen to while we wait. Aside from original mixes he has released a couple of remixes to fill our ears. Some tunes to put on repeat, his remix of No Fun by the Presets and the more recent Years of War by Porter Robinson. Done to perfection with his signature deep metallic basslines, a sound so addicting. Lets just hope he gives us another track to preview the new EP. We just cannot get enough!

Golden Features Remixes The Presets

Golden Features

Australian duo Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes, better known as the Presets, has released a remix EP of their hit song No Fun. The EP includes artists RÜFÜS, Lancelot, Eekkoo, Phile Kieren & Wax Wings. They have now included Golden Features in the bunch with this deep house remix that echoes in your head. Stripping the original song of its airy electronic synths and replacing them with a dark eerie bassline, consistent with Golden’s style.

Not really much is known about this anonymous entity known as Golden Features other than his music and his badass faceless gold mask. He did however reveal himself to be Australian producer Tom Stell in an interview with Thump for his self titled EPBut Tom is more about the art of his music rather than his identity and his work shows it; Recently releasing a music video for his track Tell Me ft. Nicole Millar and going on tours at venues and festivals.

Through social media we get to know more about Golden Features and his influences. Being quite excited his remix of No Fun got the golden stamp of approval by the Presets, Golden says they are “basically the reason he got into electronic music”. From jumping into festivals to see the Presets during the “last of his underage years” to making a remix approved by them is something a fan can only dream of. Few are ambitious enough to make that dream a reality!

Golden Features Releases A Music Video

Golden-Features-Self-titled-EP

Since the start Golden Features has been a project by Tom Stell to express creativity in his own musical style, becoming an artist of his own, straying away from the tedious nature of mainstream edm artists. Since his debut self titled EP Golden Features has been getting recognized everywhere. Recently Golden was nominated for best break through artist by InTheMix next to artists like What So Not, Motez, Wave Racer & M4SONIC. The winner will be announced this August 6th at an invite only dinner.

Needless to say Golden has been real busy with his music and getting his name out there. He has also been working on other ways to express his creativity, looking into visual arts.  As of late Golden released a music video for his track Tell Me ft. Nicole Millar. The video has a sinister vibe at first being filmed in black & white. Taking place in an abandoned warehouse with odd characters Golden takes you inside his head and gives you a glimpse of his world. Very fitting visuals for this track I would say check out the video below to see for yourself.

Under the Veil of Anonymity: Golden Features

Image

Golden Features, a mysterious figure at first, recently revealed his identity in a interview with Thump.  Within dropping his debut EP “Golden Features“, the producer quickly gained some recognition after Triple J, a radio station in Australia, aired some of his tracks in February. Porter Robinson supported the EP quickly after. Gaining thousands of views within days people started wondering just who is this anonymous producer, and is he new?

Turns out he is none other than Tom Stell, an Australian producer from the duo Kyro & Bomber, making big room house. “To be honest with you, I didn’t love it anymore. I wasn’t enjoying it”, Stell stated in the interview, “felt like I was forcing something. That I was just trying to fit into what everyone else was doing, because it seemed like the easy option.” Coming from a history “hip hop guys like MF Doom” and dance house influences like Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers, Stell was looking for more of his own style of music that can stand out on its own.

“The whole idea of the Golden Features project is to turn myself into an artist that people actually go to see for their own music.” explaining further “I don’t want people to be hung up on the anonymity thing because, in my mind, it’s not important. It’s the music”. A real idea that gives a breath of fresh air to the EDM scene as more producers are getting more creative and moving away from the same old, same structured “big room house” music and into whatever they want!

Golden Features is set to play at HARDstraylia, Hard‘s Debut Australian tour ran by Destructo.
