Joining the many artists following What So Not’sStranger Things Remix teaser Kyral and Banko from the city of Chi are amongst the few to stand out. Doing a really good job at splicing in dialogue from series and keeping the flow of the song, the two remake this smooth melody in to a elbow raising trap beat. You can own that one for free. This generous duo is offering up another track for free for you to blast out loud. Want It comes to you through Plenum Records earlier this week. You most definitely want this in your playlist.
Bouncing between tracks like Stranger Flip with a smooth melody and a raw beat like Want It, you can get a crowd hooked between the rises and falls characterized in these tracks. Catch these guys do their thing live opening up for Zeds Dead at Reaction NYE party in Rosemont Il, near Chicago and mid December in Denver at the Larimar Lounge. With an EP coming up early 2017, you can expect to hear some madness unreleased. New music riding under the trap King UZ‘s banner Quality Good Records, these should be head rocking beats.
A modern day Hip Hop and Rap artist with an old soul is a great way to describe this Chicago talent. Probably why he does not look out of place in a speak easy for his Pale Moonlight music video. Probcause has such a good ear for smooth rhythm its as if he was born with Jazz and Soul running through his veins. So when he hears about one of his own favorite artists, Big Gigantic making a new album he picks out one of his favorite tracks to remix in honor. Pumped with horns, bass, synths and vocals by Angela McCluskey, Probcause adds his own verses to Little Things it and gives the soulful tune some more energy and attitude.
This old soul also, however, rocks with a millennial fan base too and he got all our attention workin with Griz. Spittin verses over dubstep and sub bass genres splicing in with live instruments. Cannot get too far away from that soulful sound be they turn it into a party. Nothing but good vibes and a good message coming out of Griz’s new project Good Will Prevail. My Friends and I just spreads that good word of love friend ship and good times. Spread the vibes.

If you have not heard his name you definitely heard some of his tracks like RAXX with Cherney dropping at any bass heavy tent at festivals all across the board. With artists like Eptic throwing down his beats in their sets and a following of over 90k on Soundcloud Benasis is easily one of the more popular dubstep artist coming out of Chicago. Willy Joy is fired up and turbo charged with this riddim. Inviting the Kemist to the studio to add his Jamaican style for the perfect touch to this adrenaline packed track. Kemists breakdown provides a catchy sing-along anthem over a trap beat and horns while leading to a fast paced drop throwing your feet into a frenzy, perfect for a festival crowd. Catching the beat mid way Kemist whips it around one more time building up for a bass heavy trap drop that Willy Joy is known for.
Since reporting on his debut EP Bitten,Bite Me has released countless remixes, gaining more skill and creativity with each project. Now he comes back with an original single Purge following Caution a couple months prior, both released to fans for free! Purge hits you with a nitty gritty trap and dubstep drop that will laugh maniacally, to really get the blood goin. Bite Me always changes it up a bit where it counts, getting heavier every time. Excited to see what this Chicago artist comes out with next.
Creation can come from anywhere and can happen in any moment. For A Billion Young creation just needed a bedroom and the time to create was now, in their perspective at that moment. Collaborating with wonderful Chicago talent by the likes of Jac Stovler, Rich Jones, and Sylvie Grace with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting while she performed with her cello on Mag Mile Downtown, the artists create a 6 track mix tape that transcends genres. From soulful to future bass to trap, juke and footwork styles with the use of live instruments, guitars, cellos, vocals and midi controllers Chicago look no further for talent and good music than your own backyard. I recommend listening this in order and loudly.
Lizzo is here to take off where older female musicians have left off in music. Not only is she a rapper she is a singer too. Her genres consist of hip-hop and alternative but she mostly delivers Feel Good music with bare beats. Lizzo just dropped her latest album Big GRRRL Small World in December 2015. She is here to teach us all about loving yourself, chilling with your friends and engaging daily life moods. She can definitely spit with the best of them in the rap game, then turn around and make you get all in your feelings.
Lizzo not only talks about self confidence in her music, she also expresses her concerns about being stereotyped and racism. “My blackness is my largest assumed ‘accessory.’ Not my gender, religion or wealth. Because of it, I’ve experienced countless misconceptions from people— neck rolls and gratuitous gestures, overt southern dialects superimposed onto my own voice, perceived “ghetto-ness.” I laugh it off because it’s seemingly harmless, but when we think about where this originates it’s actually poisonous”. All black women are not ghetto, mean and uneducated.
To humanize is to make something friendlier to humans. Humanizing makes things more cultured, delicate, and acceptable. This video is translation of making women with robotic features (guard up) when it comes to themselves and love. Then this guy comes along, who seems to has good intentions, helps this women he is interested in become free (guard down). Listen closely as she also states the words human eyes which sounds close to humanize as well.
Lizzo is fearless, confident, strong, a beautiful BBW and independent. Young girls are being taught to change themselves to look a certain way for validation. Lizzo is inspiring women to be true to who they are. Slap them thighs and smile at those stretch marks! You will be loved as long as you love yourself first!
Lizzo will be at our very own Chicago’s Subterranean in Wicker Park on February 18, 2016 at 8:00pm. Definitely check her out and ask to take a picture.
