Light Em Up – She Can Get It [Free Download]

lightemup2

Chicago is filled with a bunch of talented artists individually. Here we got two in one. Zebo and Phnm have recently linked up their musical talents to create Light Em Up. The two producer/dj’s have roots in trap house and hip hop styles and light up clubs that they have residential spots in around Chi town. Quite the busy duo of musicians. Their debut single She Can Get It brings a mix of deep house style with a little hip hop and trap flavor. A real catchy track that will keep you on your groovin feet and it is a free download so you cannot get enough of it.

Not only have the duo released a track but they also combined their creative minds and knowledge of the dance floor to released a new app. The project puts emphasis on the DJs role to conduct the crowd and take them on a musical journey as opposed to just playing music. The Light Em Up app allows the crowd to interact with the DJ and participate in the musical direction of the set by clicking a color on their phone corresponding with a genre of anyones choosing. Which ever color, or genre, dominates the scene gets to be played next. Download the app here and go see Zebo and Phnm perform and “Light Em Up”!

Golden Features XXIV EP

golden
Released on the 17th of June one of Goldens’ recent masterpieces and highly anticipated release, the XXIV EP, has been completed. Since then Golden Features has launched his XXIV tour across Europe and is now heading to North America to grace his fans with his new music. With the overwhelming support of the EP Golden felt generous enough to give it away as a free download on his soundcloud for seven solid days. If you have not grabbed it by now capitalize on the opportunity! This is a must have.

The four track project is complete with smooth synths and dark hypnotizing bass lines that every fan of Golden Features should be familiar with by now since his debut self titled EP.  To start it off Baxter, which was streamed on soundcloud for the public prior to the release date as a teaser, is a glorious reawakening to Goldens vision of musc. With a long dark intro with vocals to put you into anticipated euphoria and its eventual lead into dark metallic basslines, it prepares you for the series of tracks starting with No One with vocals by Thelma Plum. A little more energy with catchy vocals and deeper bass lines, No One with echo in your head for days. Then you have a collaboration with vocalist K.Flay with more uplifting beats and synths under her lyrics and finally Golden settles you back down with Do You? Getting you back into dark basslines and a hypnotizing synth that is just mental. This EP has definitely surpassed its hype and should keep us satisfied until the craving for more new Golden sets in.

Zeds Dead Collab Madness

zedsdimension

DC & Hooks back in the scene releasing a monstrosity among the public on a collaboration with LOUDPVCK. Not realizing till their actual work came out, these guys are perfect collab to make a killer track. Both understand what it takes to make a ringing and memorable trap house track to make a dance floor hit. With Zeds Dead history in dubs, they add their style with the trap masters and produce an epic.

And with Zeds Dead collaboration with Megalodon earlier this month, it is a great time to be a dubstep fan. Basically two known heavy hitters of dubstep collaborate and you get what you would expect. Some heavy bass hitting madness. With some Rasta beats and dub wobbles and growls you get a downpour of bass and grime from the double duos. DC & Hooks have been dropping these tracks at their recent sets and you already know, their music is super intoxicating. Keep up with these cats.

Probcause – I Feel U & A Probmatik Surprise

prob

ProbCause, one of the more busier artists coming out of Chicago just gets busier adding more and more projects to his resumee. ZRO FOX, a collab project with Hologram Kizzie has been one of his latest acts to work on, and performed flawlessly. This next project comes as a surprise to fans of Prob. I Feel U, a track with an excellent producer Dro, is not only an original but a collaboration with the mic handler himself as Probcause adds producer to his repertoire.

But that is not the only great news coming from the Chi Town local. Probcause made a special visit and a special announcement at a very popular event. During Electric Forest weekend Probcause has had the opportunity to perform a live song on stage with Gramatik. Not even with his track Probmatik Monster Stomp, but with a brand new track he has been working on with the New York artist. A preview of a bigger collab project. Not much info on a release date yet but keep an eye out for Probcause’s collab album with Gramatik. Without a doubt, that will be a super smooth and addictive project that we cannot wait to hit the replay button on.

Taiki Nulight

taiki nulight

Taiki Nulight, a stone cold player of the night bass community otherwise known as Erka Chinbayer, is on a streak releasing a slew of originals, remixes and collaborations. This bloke from London seems to always be busy releasing music. In fact he has new releases and mixes every month almost so you do not have to wait long to get some jackin music out of him. Some got to wonder where all this creativity is coming from. Taiki must have music flowing through his veins.

Taiki’s most recent work comes out of Dim Mak Records. His first original work on this label as well, is a real dark track. Just like its name Into The Darkness, this track contains dark grooves and deep basslines with echoing vocals. A pretty chill bass track but will keep you in a good vibe on the dance floor. Taiki has some more energetic tracks up his sleeve though.

Aside from his original releases Taiki has been making some top of the line garage house tracks with some top of the line artists. Making some excellent connections through his talented productions, Taiki has had the opportunity to meet up and collab with artists like My Nu Leng and Night Bass master AC Slater. All together the artists have been able to produce some of the best four to the floor deep garage house sounds. Not even to the fullest extent of Taiki’s talents.

Not only working on collaborations and originals from scratch Taiki has been able to rework some other artists, not only his own, sounds. Focusing his creative prowess towards Jamie George and Cause and Affects track Another Time, Taiki gives it some new life. From a light deep house track, Erka adds some echoing basslines and chopped of vocals from the original to give the dancefloor some great garage house vibes to dance too.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd is known for how deep and blunt his music is. His music is real, he talks about sex, drugs, women, and alcohol. Not in the explicit, lets shake what are mama gave us, but in a real way how all these categories makes one feel. A lot of his fans comment on his social media sights and call him “Our next generation Micheal Jackson“. Micheal Jackson was known for being the King of Pop. His touch in music was soulful and funky. It seems to be that The Weeknd however, looks up to Micheal Jackson because of his mash up Dirty Diana (released in 2012 in the Trilogy).

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqt8Z1k0oWQ&w=560&h=315]Can’t Feel My Face, is a very interesting song. Even though it is considered main stream and plays in the radio, he talks about being on drugs without even saying it. The song is simple, it pretty much repeats it self through the whole song but his words make a bold imprint to a memory through a certain phrase or word.

His other new single, The Hills, he talks about a girl his chasing that he only likes her when it is past five am and wants no one to know about. The reason the Weeknd is so successful is because his openly honest in a non-raunchy way. He talks about situations some people never dare to mention. His song continues to express how “his living for the moment” and “when I’m f**ked up is the real me”. He is expressing the feeling of only feeling alive when your mind is distorted from being intoxicated. A lot of people relate because after hours when one is feeling more then past a few drinks, sometimes an emotional side comes over one and has this urge to see that one person.

Imagine walking into a party or club. Now, what song would be playing in the background? That’s What I Said would be the song that would be playing and automatically, you will know that you will be having a great time. This is the song you get really amped up to when you are ready to go out and have a great time. It is fun and bouncy, with a mix of smoothness like your up to no good. The mascot to Bunny Tiger Records defiantly matches his music, softly aggressive with a bounce. Bunny Tiger records has artists like Sharam Jey, Kolombo, and Phonique.

Daniel Fernandes is a 21 year old that has dropped out of University to follow his goals of being a successful DJ according to his website biography. He has made the right decision, makes you want to hear more! He gets his fans, who does not like to get real dirty?
