Zeds Dead Somewhere Else Ep

zedsdeadsomewhereelse

DC & Hooks just released their new EP Somewhere Else on the first day of July. On this 8 track EP Zeds Dead brought back Omar Linx, who we all know to have worked with the Canadian duo on countless tracks, and Memorecks who worked on the single Jericho months prior. DC & Hooks also collabed with Big Gigantic, Bright Lights, Perry Farrell, Twin Shadow & D’Angelo Lacy and Sean Price to give this EP such amazing vibes that differentiate between each song from smooth and fluid to heavy and wild. Somewhere Else really shows this duo’s abilities to evolve their sound and adapt with the times and audiences to stay relevant while keeping that distinctive sound we all love so much.

Before the release of this EP Zeds Dead dropped plenty of preview tracks for Somewhere Else to keep fans ready for the new release. They came through not only with sounds to satisfying our ears but with visual stimulation as well. They unleashed a real tripped out video for the track Lost You ft Twin Shadow & D’Angelo Lacy. The psychedelic animations in the video reminiscent of a bad acid trip features melting faces and skulls, colorful animals and layering visuals with just about every color and pattern sequence you can think of. Check out the video below yourself.

Unloading previews and videos from the EP to fans might have seemed generous enough of them but check this out. Zeds Dead actually partnered up with bit torrent to give fans a package of free material from them. This package would include an unreleased track Love Me, full video of Lost You for you to own, the stems to their hit track Hadouken and their first EP Fresh Beets when they were just known as Mass Productions. Own all that and more when you download the bit torrent bundle here.

Salva switches over to Pop Music

Salva

In a recent interview with Thump, the Chicago native Salva discusses plans to “graduate”, as he says, from the underground scene. “I did the club culture heavy” he says, “I’m not done [DJing], I still love it, but everybody goes through phases.” It seems Salva is wants to take next step in his music career and reach out to a broader spectrum of artists and audiences.

Over the past few years as trap music was gaining popularity Salva has made his mark known, producing and remixing his own style of the genre. Having made some very successful collabs with artists like the Crookers & RL grime, he has a solid history with his sound which not only stays in the realm of trap & bass music, but also incorporates house and hip hop elements. One of his more recognizable songs and collaborations is with RL Grime on a remix of Kanye West’s Mercy.

But even though Salva has mastered the trap genre he shows a growing distaste for it, and he makes it very apparent in the interview. “Trap isn’t even cool anymore” he continues, “if we look at music the way we do fashion, that shit’s been out of season.” So the next step for Salva is to make new music on a larger scale that attracts new artists to work with him and his sound and get his name out there.

“I’m looking for a little more substance” he explains, “I’m just looking for something deeper than sound effects and kick drums.” What he is more interested in now is “making timeless actual songs, making something of substance that can be covered.” Salva is already making the moves to put his idea in motion. At the end of April he made a new record label, Peacemaker, and released a track “Drop That Bitch” with familiar artists such as Kurupt, Bad Lucc and ScHoolboy Q.

Keeping this pattern going Salva teamed up with Nick Hook to produce a song Old English with verses by Young Thug, Freddie Gibbz and A$AP Ferg. Tracks like Drop That Bitch and Old Enlgish definitely break more into the mainstream as Salva hoped. Big names like Gibbz and Ferg working with Salva will definitely help him reach his goal to have a more recognizable name in the music industry. Looking forward to hearing more tracks by Salva and who he works with. Deorro decides to call it quits

deorro2

Deorro’s time DJing  is coming to an end. With a series of posts on Twitter earlier in May the man otherwise known as Erick Orrosquiesta announces that he is quitting DJing saying that it is keeping him from what he loves most, his family and producing. Erick also mentions that he also wants to focus on helping new producers and help his panda funk crew get on their own tour.

Even with this announcement though Deorro is still set to finish his scheduled tour dates. It is also good note that this is not necessarily a bad thing. Quite the contrary, in fact, with his time away from DJing and touring Deorro will be able to spend more time producing his own music for the fans. So we will be hearing a lot more from him in the future. He is already set with a plan for an album in which he says he is 19 tracks into. We already cannot wait to hear the music that has been pent up in his head, waiting to be unleashed to the public.

To see the rest of his post on this matter you can follow him on his Twitter.

After releasing the track list though much of Joel’s “fans” complained that the new album contained too many old familiar songs. Joel took to reddit to respond to these claims stating most tracks were unreleased and the problem of over-sharing on the internet is not under his control.

“well, there you go. tracklist is out. It’s another culmination of another years worth of work. and i’ve always made a point to share most of my work in progress with my fans and supporters. It is a little disheartening to see negative feedback about the lack of “new” music to the die hard fan who has probably been heard everything on there… but thats just the nature of “oversharing”. I’m still proud to call this body of work a good representative album of my production capabilities, whether youve heard it or not.

the idea i like to keep in mind, is that it might be hard for you to see it, but i think the larger portion of the mau5 world hasnt heard any of this. at all. think about new fans? or people who’d like an introduction to whatever it is i do. its not “for” those people, its not “for” the die hard fans… its kinda for everyone.

id hate to just lock myself in the studio, with no streams, no fan interaction, no song previews, no free releases on live.deadmau5.com then just make an annual appearance once a year with an album full of new stuff… thats just not my style. Albums (for me) arent produced in a single sitting, overnight. They take time… and during that time, i like to keep people posted on my progress and how its moving along, whether its a stream, soundcloud preview, or live.deadmau5.com release…. and if thats something that “COMPLETELY RUINS AN ALBUM” for you… then… well, shit. i dont know what to tell you.

in the end, im proud of this album. And whether you’ve heard some, most or all over the course of the time it took me to do it, i hope you enjoy it as well. :)”

Despite the negative feedback from so called fans, the mau5’s album is still getting great reviews. Calling it a bit of a departure, but a “bit of a head bopper” the last track of the album Seeya ft Colleen D’Agostino was premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio and has been dubbed the Hottest Record in the World. It was later shared on Mau5trap record’s soundcloud with really cool, dark cover art to fit the track. For those who pre-order the album will now receive Avaritia and Seeya instantly

Feed Me announces Tour schedule and New EP!

Image

About this time last year Jonathan Gooch, other wise known as Feed Me one of his many DJ/producer alias’s, announced on facebook that he was prepared to quit DJing. At least for about a year. Although he has been playing few DJ sets over the past few months his focus over his hiatus was mainly his music production and graphic designing.

Well, just as he said about a year later he is back and ready to go in full gear with the announcement of a new tour in North America named “Feed Me’s Psychedelic Journey.”  Feed Me’s new tour will have an updated set of “Teeth” so there will be lots of focus on visuals as well as the new music he has prepared for us over the year. With the announcement of the tour on facebook Jon delighted us fans with word of his new EP. He also was generous enough to share a track from his forthcoming EP labeled “Time For Myself” on his soundcloud. This track is available to you with purchase of presale tickets for Feed Me’s Psychedelic Journey tour in your city. Sign up here for the limited time offer.
