NEW ARTIST ALERT: ALESSIA CARA

Alessia is Influenced by Amy Winehouse and would love to collaborate with Drake one day. Along with fellow Canadian Drake, 18 year old, Alessia Cara in from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Newcomer to the scene, she has already 500,000 streams in her first week debut breakout song “Here”. Before she was discovered in the music industry, Cara covered songs such as  “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood“Halo” by Beyonce and many more.

This new tune is definitely an #Antipartytrack. This goes out to all the people who don’t enjoy going to overcrowded parties where there is alot of BS going on vs. being a chill spot with a small group of close friends laying low. Alessia catches herself asking, why is she even there?  It’s not her usual scene.

Fresh & New: Henrik3000

Henrik

Henrik3000 is an artist you definitely need to get your ears on. One of those amazing artist hiddin in the shuffle of everyday music to be hand picked by your friend and shared with you, as most great music and artists are shared and heard. This producer is a German born, self taught music junkie, that makes some dope, super trippy and really wavy hip hop beats. We recently got introduced to the man from a friend and fellow music lover. One thing lead to another and we got to have a chat with Henrik about himself and his music.

Well how was your weekend first of all?
Mostly awesome, celebrated my birthday pretty hard with my brothers from other mothers.

You are from Germany correct?
Yes, you can see it in my strange english sometimes, coming from The north of Germany actually. Directly on the border to Denmark.

Off the bat, Henrik is a pretty chill dude. Clearly loves celebrating his special events the way any producer living the lifestyle of music can. Being a music junkie myself, as Henrik is, I had to find out how he parties and where goes for some musical recreation.

Are there any good clubs around there, how is the music scene around Denmark?
In my town the nightlife is Pretty wack. But in an Hour or two you can reach some pretty nice locations in other citys. I actually… Never really heard anything dope from Denmark. But in Germany it’s Pretty dope man.

At what point in your life did you decide to start making music?
I always loved Music and First I was very into The music that my father heard. Mostly 60’s and 70’s glam rock and Rock in general like T Rex, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and so on. Still loving and listening a lot to music like this. I started playing the Guitar when I was around 16, then I got my first Apple Computer from my father. It was his old g4 power Macintosh and there was Garage Band on it. So I started Playing around with it, done stupid, random shit like electro and rap beats with standard settings and no actual idea about arrangements or anything that has to do with music production in general. When I turned 18 I bought my first macbook and got Logic Pro and started to play around the same shitty way as with Garage Band until I got a bit more into hip Hop and especially Underground, instrumental hip hop from Germany that some of my Friends showed me. Suff daddy, Hulk Hodn or Dexter which are still my biggest Inspirations honestly. Never heard of Dilla or Madlib until this time and just barely listened to hip hop from the 90’s. Have to say that I was really into West Coast when I was around 12. But yeah, basically when I was 20 I started spending most of my time on Logic and working with samples and figure out how an instrumental could sound fresh and so I do today, still in progress.

You’ve come along way man, some good history. So what do you have goin on for future projects? Any ep’s, album’s, or just dropping beats left n right?
Well I’m part of The recently founded Label “wegrowwax” and we release compilations and other stuff… I just decide to release beats on SoundCloud whenever I want to at the time. Got some more going on with Rhymster But thats about it.

WeGrowWax has everything to do about music and nothing to do about marijuana. Do not lie, it passed your mind. It is a collective label of dozens of artists including Henrik3000. Their website is filled with inspiring quotes, witty puns and of course their artists music and mixtapes. They are built around this idea of love, passion and organic music connected with nature, skillfully crafted by the individual artist in their own personal ways. A very pure mindset that you can hear in their music. Get lost in the sounds and visit the wegrowwax website here.

So Henrik is making some moves. He is getting busy. He has a good foundation there with ‘Wax’ and making music like no other. Talking about making music with Rhymster, who introduced Henrik and us here at Ever, I was curious to know how the two got to know eachother. You know since the two live on opposite sides of the world, Chicago and Germany. A simple play on soundcloud was all it took to get connected with Henriks music. So he is getting some good exposure that can very well lead to a wider audience.

Should Henrik ever decide to visit us here in Chicago he would not have to look far to find some friends of music. Since connecting with Rhymster, he has made quite a few productions for him. Most recently “Ill Be…”, a smooth beat over a nice progression of piano and guitar duo and wavy breakdowns. Henrik has also had the opportunity to collab with SamIAm the MC, an underground MC from Chicago that has won rap battles and was a finalist on MTV’s World Rap Battle, with Rhymster on their track “Ya Playin”

So whats next for Henrik? Well he seems like a free spirit, taking life and opportunities as they go. Continuing his work with WeGrowWax label, mixtapes, and like he said he will be dropping tracks on his soundcloud whenever he pleases. Kind of like recently when he dropped 4 dope tracks in a nicely packaged ep dubbed “Forgotten & Free”. Something about that name that seems liberating. Take a listen to this instrumental package and follow Henrik3000 as he progresses deeper into the rabbit hole of music. The thing about music is you never stop learning new things, and as he said he continues to learn to things so he is only getting better. Best of all his music is free to download! You cannot lose.

6 WAYS TO SURVIVE MUSIC FESTIVALS

SURVIVE MUSIC FEST

In the words of one of the greatest musicians of all time “Music is my Religion” – Jimi Hendrix.

All over the world people come together to celebrate music in harmony. The tickets may cost an arm and a leg (pricey) but the experience is significant. Along with Fun, Food, Music, Selfies and fashion, Music Festival’s can also have a downside if a game plan is not in effect beforehand. Take a look at these 6 unforgettable tips that can help sustain an fantastic experience!

6. Stay Hydrated

MUSIC FESTIVALS

The Food and drinks are not cheap, bring cash and make sure to have plenty of bottles of water packed. Also bringing a personal insulated water bottle is not a bad idea either, that way refilling your own personal bottle will not be a problem.

5. Porter potties? or Bush?

MUSIC FESTIVAL 3

After drinking all of that water and eating food, it has to come out sometime during the festival. Where should I go?? Let’s face it the world is filled with people who don’t care vs. germ-a-phobes. The nearest stores also claim they have a no public washroom policy. What to do? Be prepared to use the porter potty or find yourself a bush as my friend Bria Douglas says. A personal roll of toilet paper may be needed as well.

4. Prepare for the weather

MUSIC FESTIVALS 4

When it rain it pours, the weather man said it would be a nice hot summer day but as always…. he predicted wrong once again. Especially here in Chicago, never underestimate the weather change at the last minute. Be prepared to bring an umbrealla, poncho, light jacket and wear closed toe shoes.

3. Crowd Etiquette

MUSIC FESTIVAL 6

So the guy that’s standing in front of you just had to lift his heavy girlfriend on his shoulders so she can see David Guetta better for her SnapChat. Excuse me? Can you not right now? If this happens politely tap your comrade and ask if they can please get down or plan B: Try to move to another tight spot or plan C: Kick his ass (your choice)

2. Plan and pack

MUSIC FESTIVALS 5

Always have a portable phone charger, sun screen, hat and sunglasses and whatever else necessities that is needed while out in the music battlefield.

1. Be safe and Have FUN

4-14-12(Daily Breeze Photo by Douglas Morino Staff Reporter) Fans dance underneath a parachute at Coachella on Friday.

Become open minded it’s a music festival, not an execution. Chill with the homies, best friend or girlfriend/boyfriend. Try to even make new associates. Festivals are sometimes presented with a theme and commonly held outdoors with other attractions such as food and merchandise vending, performance art and social activities. So relax and Enjoy it! For more information on ALL the 2015 festivals click Here  and for all my Chicago peoples click this link Here for all Chicago Festivals.

Even I will be turning up at Lollapalooza on August 1st, Hope to see you all there 😜

Probcause & Friends

probcause

Local Chicagoan Colin Grimm otherwise known as Probcause is gettin known quite quickly from fans to artists and labels. It is his unique style of rapping and the energy he brings to a stage for an audience. It is his music itself that has alot of energy on its own so it is hard not to get known, only to feeding his ego!  Getting the attention by some real dope artists too.

Prob has turned the heads of the Lowtemp crew and other artists alike and the music they make together is pretty perfect. It is like perfect match in creative minds. Recently hookin up with another Chicago artist Manic Focus to make a sexy remix of Exmags track Tilt Mode with Gibbz. Prob is not unknown to Exmag either, having made a track together on his latest album Waves and working with Lowtemp creator Gramatik on a real cool super creative beat that will make you wanna grab a beer n party till you get loud!

Speaking of collabing with dope artists Colin has started another project aside from Probcause. Linking up with Hologram Kizzie, aka Psalm One, to give you Zro Fox. Get it? Pretty cool, and they announced the collab with a serisouly dope music video for their single Might Not, as a preamble to their album to be released later.

Hologram Kizzie and Prob have been workin together for a while since 2008 from live sets at the Bottom Lounge up to Lincoln Hall in Chicago, to working on a few songs here and there on records such as the Recipe Vol. 1 & 2 covering multiple genres. Recently playing here in our very own city of Chicago in Lincoln Hall, is where they first layed down Zro Fox’s single Might Not and it was magnificent.

Watching the two flow together on the mic so flawlessly was amazing. They work very well together, them and Kat V the beautuful violinist, Cofresi and other artists that Prob likes to collab with frequently and bring up on stage. Manic Focus is also known to work with a violinist, Colin n JmaC share some similar interests! Colin definitely knows how to spot and pick a good artist that would be compatible to collab with him. Having a show with Big Gigantic at the Aragon Ballroom this Saturday the 14th, I am excited to see what Probcause has next up his sleeve.

Joker – The Mainframe LP

Joker Mainframe

Joker just recently released what could very well be the best album to come out in a while; The Mainframe on Kapsize records. This Lp includes his hit single Midnight, which was premired on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 broadcast about 3 months ago and released on the 8th of Dec. and his collaboration with Zak Abel, which has accumulated quite a lot of views with the official music video since its release on Joker Presents. These two songs alone are enough to turn heads.

Aside from the music video, Joker successfully teased the albums release in early January with a preview on youtube, confirming the speculations of how badass it was going to be. Did not disappoint. Containing 13 tracks, the Mainframe takes you on a journey of awesome sounds and emotion. Just do no skip a song on your first listen! Each song blends into the next. Connect to jokers soundcloud page, link below, to keep track of him and learn how you can own such awesome music.
