If you just came out of the hospital from that beating you took on Black Friday over a waffle press at walmart. Do not worry, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole got you on some Black Friday gifts, each released on their own respective lables, Top Dawg Ent and Dreamville. The two shared each others tracks the day off and it was a great present to say the least. While you still gotta download em, you at least are not getting an elbow to the face.
Tkay Maidza releases a new track after a short silence following her release of MOB. Paired with an eerie yet creative music video, this project unites some serious talent in music production. Ghost is a future classic trap beat track brought to you by Baauer, What So Not and George Maple. The airy synths, heavy beats and ghostly effects is a raw track and with Tkay’s steadfast vocals, this should satisfy fans for another good season till the cravings kick in.
Originally from the Twin Cities but is currently reppin the set in Chi town, we know him as homies. Manic Focus, the young producer known for his dope live music sets and funky beats released yet another one. This time hooking up with Brooklyn’s finest Break Science and Lettuce on Funky Style to make a song that is just that. There is no time you cannot vibe with this. Its undisputed, it is rhythmically smooth and beautiful. Try not to move to this, its pretty hard.
Premiering on Nest HQ, hub known for free releases and soul inspiring musicstarted by Skrillex in 2014. Time makes its way to Daktyl and Madeaux to release a collab on the Nest HQ platform. Originally starting as a “post R&B Ballad” by Madeaux, it went through a metamorphosis as vocalist Anais Aida would put it. Adding hip hop beats and synth breaks the end result was nothing short of a masterpiece.
Reworking an old track with Madeaux, can show you that Daktyl can take any track and transform it with new live. He did so with Metaphysical by Chicago based house producers Autograf. Taking the uptempo dance tune and transforming into a vibrant future classic beat. No different effort with Shanay‘s piece Time. He took the soulful R&B hit and added some hip hop energy and rhythm with sould vibrant synths over Shanay’s chopped up vocals. Embarking on tours for November after hitting up gigs at nightclubs, Daktyl is staying busy, keep up and do not miss out; this artist is going to be making some real noise, be the first to hear it.
Hip Hop mic handler Omar Linx hooked up with Hunter Siegel and Pro Logic for production on his lastest release. Back To You, released via Buygore, has an intense yet ambient feel to it. Omar Linx always hits the mic with such passion and energy combined with melody and synths brings you a song you can really dig into.
Linx can Keep It Mellow too on the other hand with a free one released late last month by Marshmello. True to its name it stay real vibrant with a bassline synth and piano dancing with some vocals that bring the track down to earth. Gotta give it to Linx for not being a one styled one genre artists. Always pushing the boundaries as he grow.
Earlier this month Machobeats released The Mid onto his soundcloud. A real heavy and gritty trap instrumental. Get some good speakers and feel this bass in your chest it is ridiculous. Machobeatz is a genius with trap and hip hop music production and is also open to selling his beats to aspiring individual artists or even collaborating over at Ever Evolved Studio.
Wednesday, November 25th Machobeats had the opportunity to open for Curren$ythe Spitta. On the beat pads, Macho controlled the sound and while fellow Ever Evolved studio members Rhymster, Mike Booth and AR of Triangle Offense hit the mic and controlled the energy. Macho entered and without uttering a word let his music speak, hittin the crowd with heavy bass and beat work. Absolute best crowd control of the night. Aside from the $pitta Curren$y of course, it was a great night for local artists too.
L.x gets real deep in is hip hop track Love Affair produced by Grizzly Beats. Smoothest beat you can hear with the most addicting guitar riff. Real versatile artist, L.x switches between high and low energy tracks. He regularly releases free styles on his soundcloud. Recently made a free style of Holly Holm makin a mess of Ronda Rousey and the Champion liked the song herself. Also dabbles in cover art and music production himself and is currently heading to the top of the charts on ReverbNation; currently at a comfortable #6, he plans on topping it soon. Watch out for this young artist because he got some plans, some dope ideas to get his name out there and his music known. Check out Love Affair below and peep his other most recent, more bigger project, My Lyfe EP, as we interview the artist.
Hologram Kizzie aka Psalm One channeling her inner god complex gets up in your face with Taming The Goddess. All Chicago attitude and mad fluid flow. She still loves you though. It is all POLYbecause love lasts forever. At the same time acknowledge that beat; I know it is hard too with such a dope spitta on the mic but when MC can dance with the beat on the mic like that, complementing each other, It is wonderful!
Onto more recent, Kizzie was interviewed by City Pages, revealing a good amount about her and her music career, inspirations and aspirations. They also touched ground on Rhymesayers exclusion of her in an event. Speculating gender and sexual preferences. Kizzie making a point about the small numbers of female artists represented in the hip hop industry. Being one herself with magnificent skill on the mic, it effects her greatly and she has the voice to speak out about it. Much support from Ever Evolved of course, especially with the music she has been releasing!
Not only new music either, Kizzie just released a music video for Impatient (Just U And US) Premiering on Respect.Magazine. Shot and directed by with Angelenah on backing vocals, this video shows all kinds of fun night time activities, like pillow fights obviously. Coming straight from her recent project P.O.L.Y. it is one of the more chill songs to smoke to but still one of the greats as Kizzie seems to be getting better with every track.
Lets take it back to the old days, Al Capone is still running Chicago, speak easy’s are thriving off bootleg alcohol and the Jazz was as smooth as that cigar you are poofin on at the bar. The women dancing the Charleston, with their bold lipstick colors and their long dress and fancy head dresses. Then you got Probcause over here stealing the show with his orchestra, Donnie Trumpet, Cofresi on the drums and KSRA serenading the crowd. Coming from his 2014 Waves EP, Prob brings this song back from the past with the new video but he is also coming with new music too.
Fellow white rapper Lil Dicky caught the Chicago locals ear, probably after Dicky got the brilliant idea of making a music video using other peoples resources. Sort of a social experiment. The two jumped on a beat together and here we have The Woods. A real chill and catchy beat that will have you munchin out at the crib next to your bong all day.
So Prob is continuing with his collaborations, so much so that you would wonder where he even gets the time to eat and sleep. Right after releasing a hit with Branx, Exmag and Adrian Lau, and producing his own track with DRO, Prob went back to the homie Drew Mantia and released Same Thing, a track for the fifth compilation album installment by AC3, a highly reputable Hip Hop Festival partnered with iHip Hop Distribution. Prob take 5 man you deserve it.
UPDATE: 11/23/15 4:45pm: Premiering on Mass Appeals Probcause unleashes a creative art music video for his track Same Thing with Drew Mantia. While this is his first video animated video with the help of Elijah Alvarado Prob is no stranger to art and drawing. Having an Art Degree at the Art Institute of Chicago, it definitely helped with a skill explored in early ages. “I grew up drawing and was always attracted to graffiti” Colin explained to Mass Appeals. “I started painting pretty young but got arrested a few too many times… It basically got to a point where I was putting my college scholarship on the line if I got arrested again, so I decided to chill out a little bit in my 20s”.
Well we are glad Prob gets to release his creative angst through a professional medium combining it with his music career! You can bet that this will not be his last animated project. Follow Probcause’s Instagram located below for more of his creative art!
