Dillon Francis gives us a sneak peak of his debut album Money Sucks, Friends Rule with this single off the LP. This epic collaboration with Sultan & Ned Shepard and the Chain Gang of 1974 keeps the anticipation for the album up high. This is one of Dillons euphoric tracks with some smooth upbeat synths and of course his own style of sounds that he has perfected with nice vocals over it. When We Were Young will definitely be a fun & memorable sing along anthem at live shows, and since there is a lyric video for the track everyone should know the words!
Even tho Dillon has announced in an interview with Power 96 during Ultra that July is for sure the month to release the album, the apparent delay does not phase us. Going through record labels as we know is always a tedious process. With word of collabs with Twista, Brendon Urie and of course Sultan & Ned Shepard and Chain Gang of 1974 to be on the album, we have no problem waiting in anticipation! The talent on this album will no doubt make up for the time.
Check out the lyric video for When We Were Young below.
Since the start Golden Features has been a project by Tom Stell to express creativity in his own musical style, becoming an artist of his own, straying away from the tedious nature of mainstream edm artists. Since his debut self titled EP Golden Features has been getting recognized everywhere. Recently Golden was nominated for best break through artist by InTheMix next to artists like What So Not, Motez, Wave Racer & M4SONIC. The winner will be announced this August 6th at an invite only dinner.
Needless to say Golden has been real busy with his music and getting his name out there. He has also been working on other ways to express his creativity, looking into visual arts. As of late Golden released a music video for his track Tell Me ft. Nicole Millar. The video has a sinister vibe at first being filmed in black & white. Taking place in an abandoned warehouse with odd characters Golden takes you inside his head and gives you a glimpse of his world. Very fitting visuals for this track I would say check out the video below to see for yourself.
Jauz is usually known for his hard hitting dubstep, trap remixes and originals. So when he comes out and releases smooth future bass and deep house mixes it comes to us as a surprise! Even adding a little trap elements of his own to make it a unique Jauz tune, he took one of Ed Sheeran‘s singles Sing off his new album and turned it into a nice dance tune. Taking the acoustic guitar and vocals and adding some heavy bass synths to a dance beat, this remix is perfect for a summer dance party playlist.
Jauz, just showing casing his talents as a artist, clearly has great variety of sounds & ideas in his head. His next remix has just as much ambience to it. This time Jauz placed his attention on Childish Gambino‘s track 3005. Adding loud bursting synths and bass patterns he turned this tune into a vibin summer hit. Best of all you can grab both of these tracks for free, so download them to your playlist and ride around bump them loud with the windows down!
The legendary duo Basement Jaxx not too long ago dropped this animated music video for their single Unicorn. Animations in the video were created by Tomek Ducki. The song itself is a real groovy deep house track reminiscent of 90’s house music. With the words Jump In! repeated through the track it is not hard to start dancing and jumping along. Check out the video below.
DC & Hooks just released their new EP Somewhere Else on the first day of July. On this 8 track EP Zeds Dead brought back Omar Linx, who we all know to have worked with the Canadian duo on countless tracks, and Memorecks who worked on the single Jericho months prior. DC & Hooks also collabed with Big Gigantic, Bright Lights, Perry Farrell, Twin Shadow & D’Angelo Lacy and Sean Price to give this EP such amazing vibes that differentiate between each song from smooth and fluid to heavy and wild. Somewhere Else really shows this duo’s abilities to evolve their sound and adapt with the times and audiences to stay relevant while keeping that distinctive sound we all love so much.
Before the release of this EP Zeds Dead dropped plenty of preview tracks for Somewhere Else to keep fans ready for the new release. They came through not only with sounds to satisfying our ears but with visual stimulation as well. They unleashed a real tripped out video for the track Lost You ft Twin Shadow & D’Angelo Lacy. The psychedelic animations in the video reminiscent of a bad acid trip features melting faces and skulls, colorful animals and layering visuals with just about every color and pattern sequence you can think of. Check out the video below yourself.
Unloading previews and videos from the EP to fans might have seemed generous enough of them but check this out. Zeds Dead actually partnered up with bit torrent to give fans a package of free material from them. This package would include an unreleased track Love Me, full video of Lost You for you to own,the stems to their hit track Hadoukenand their first EP Fresh Beets when they were just known as Mass Productions. Own all that and more when you download the bit torrent bundle here.
Deorro’s time DJing is coming to an end. With a series of posts on Twitter earlier in May the man otherwise known as Erick Orrosquiesta announces that he is quitting DJing saying that it is keeping him from what he loves most, his family and producing. Erick also mentions that he also wants to focus on helping new producers and help his panda funk crew get on their own tour.
I love producing music. And I want to do it more, so if there's opportunity to do it more, imma do it. Cuz I love it. Call me a sellout.
Even with this announcement though Deorro is still set to finish his scheduled tour dates. It is also good note that this is not necessarily a bad thing. Quite the contrary, in fact, with his time away from DJing and touring Deorro will be able to spend more time producing his own music for the fans. So we will be hearing a lot more from him in the future. He is already set with a plan for an album in which he says he is 19 tracks into. We already cannot wait to hear the music that has been pent up in his head, waiting to be unleashed to the public.
To see the rest of his post on this matter you can follow him on his Twitter.

After releasing the track list though much of Joel’s “fans” complained that the new album contained too many old familiar songs. Joel took to reddit to respond to these claims stating most tracks were unreleased and the problem of over-sharing on the internet is not under his control.
“well, there you go. tracklist is out. It’s another culmination of another years worth of work. and i’ve always made a point to share most of my work in progress with my fans and supporters. It is a little disheartening to see negative feedback about the lack of “new” music to the die hard fan who has probably been heard everything on there… but thats just the nature of “oversharing”. I’m still proud to call this body of work a good representative album of my production capabilities, whether youve heard it or not.
the idea i like to keep in mind, is that it might be hard for you to see it, but i think the larger portion of the mau5 world hasnt heard any of this. at all. think about new fans? or people who’d like an introduction to whatever it is i do. its not “for” those people, its not “for” the die hard fans… its kinda for everyone.
id hate to just lock myself in the studio, with no streams, no fan interaction, no song previews, no free releases on live.deadmau5.com then just make an annual appearance once a year with an album full of new stuff… thats just not my style. Albums (for me) arent produced in a single sitting, overnight. They take time… and during that time, i like to keep people posted on my progress and how its moving along, whether its a stream, soundcloud preview, or live.deadmau5.com release…. and if thats something that “COMPLETELY RUINS AN ALBUM” for you… then… well, shit. i dont know what to tell you.
in the end, im proud of this album. And whether you’ve heard some, most or all over the course of the time it took me to do it, i hope you enjoy it as well. :)”
Despite the negative feedback from so called fans, the mau5’s album is still getting great reviews. Calling it a bit of a departure, but a “bit of a head bopper” the last track of the album Seeya ft Colleen D’Agostino was premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio and has been dubbed the Hottest Record in the World. It was later shared on Mau5trap record’s soundcloud with really cool, dark cover art to fit the track. For those who pre-order the album will now receive Avaritia and Seeya instantly
