Chore Boy and Brad Kemp “Nosce” ft. CantBuyDeem (Music Video)

Chore Boy and Brad Kemp recently dropped the visual to the hit single NOSCE featuring CantBuyDeem, on their LP “STORIES YOU CAN TELL YOURSELF“. This music video, directed by Patric Coakley, is a simple but brilliant visual expression of the three rap verse song, including sound bites from what you can only postulate is Alan Watts since the timber of the voice in the audio is a popular archaic tone. Chore Boy and CantBuyDeem give so much wittiness throughout.

Chore Boy starts off with a fast tight flow and high technical skill “They just like me for the weed, they don’t like me for the rapping!” Later in the same first verse, “I leave my lid open like some stale chips and I skate by like a stale fish, you on stalemate while I nail shit, whats an earthling to an alien!” Chore Boy takes the first and last verse, giving CantBuyDeem the middle. That was only a taste of the wit Chore Boy co. has on this one record.

CantBuyDeem starts off with this line that will make you laugh everytime, “I put in 5 brought back 10, that shit felt like MAGIC!.. Hear a lot of boss talk, but they got no sauce, gotta put the packet in the ramen at the right time!” Followed up by, “Jumped off the porch like a skydive, I be smoking spliffs feeling like I’m in the ozone, standing round a room full of squares trying to phone home, trap phone, cell phone, main phone, same phone no ringtone but that bitch stay buzzin!” Can’tBuyDeem per usual, drops a verse thick and rich in humor, style and banter. His first line is significant because, think about the idea of being an entrepreneur that can flip a product and how it is like literal magic. In CantBuyDeem’s case, he puts that work in as a recording artist and gets more back. Basic simple math having to do with a sonic return on investment.

Chore Boy’s third and final verse has more density packed into it! “Took a D.A.R.E. class, but my dawg double dared me, talk isn’t scary, everyone who’s watching went from awestruck to wary. And they be taping everything like caution so carefully, I’m lost in the sauce but I’m found at the scene!” His little play on drugs and crime is interesting, it seems to be an ode to the 90s public school war on drug culture, as well as metaphors for his mind and acumen when it comes to rapping.

Brad Kemp’s production and engineering is top notch as always and really helps brush out the flavor of the recording artists he works with. We are all for more Chore Boy x CantBuyDeem records! Hip hop such as this record and visual are vital to the life line of the culture. If you can get anyone to bump, dance and think. Well then you have done your part.

Throwback Thursday: Essse’s Constellations Music Video

Essse Guey is Ever Evolved’s ace in the hole when it comes to recording artists. Not only having a dope unique sound and style, but also an image that is perfect for the contemporary hip hop climate. Which brings me to an underrated Essse visual produced by Brandon Holmes to the song “CONSTELLATIONS”. The lines would constantly repeat in your heard. “Dark side of the moon I’m sipping 3 Floyd’s, space station middle finger up for the polaroid!” This line has quite a few meanings that could be extrapolated but I just love the sly double reference to Pink Floyd and the staple Indy craft brewing beer that’s famously sold throughout the Midwest.

Essse Guey has been diligently working on a few projects that are on his horizons, until then become familiar with Essse’s CONSTELLATIONS. His Chicago recording artist and rapper is as explosive on wax, as he is on stage, as he is on screen. “99 problems we be rolling up a matrix!

Gold Symbolizes Divine Protection and Enlightenment: Tweak’G Releases New Single

You might have seen Tweak’G rocking killer live sets at one of Ever Evolved Empower HerStory events. She has a mean flow, hard attitude, strong lyrical structure. Her cuts on a record make Young M.A. seem like literal Child’s Play. Comparing her like that does not even do her sound or image justice.

This new single and visual she just dropped for GOLD is H-O-T! Sporting cut off jean shorts, a white tank and timberlands, Tweak’G flows effortlessly about her upbringing, lifestyle and how nothing she has experienced in her past will affect her spirit or mind. She is strong and persevering. A lot of the music video shows off Tweak’G and her people making ice slushies for sale on the street corner and ripping blunts with her crew around their vehicles. The culture she is portraying definitely comes off authentic and through her flow and energy, you feel what it means to be a Chicago thoroughbred.

Tweak’G philosophizes about the idea of GOLD. By the end of the visual there is a cinematic rating label that resembles a G, PG or PG-13 type of film. It reads, “TWEAK’G, GOLD, GOLD: SYMBOLIZES DIVINE PROTECTION AND ENLIGHTENMENT“. This music video may be the start of her brand’s gold rush. She has solid professional production quality throughout, a seasoned flow and a composition style that might see a lot of biters. If so, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Should be exciting to see where she takes her career and her unique concepts.

Woman Crush Wednesday: L11

L11 is hard to miss whether it is conquering open mics, holding her own in beefy local lineups or serving a cake shake that would put Portillo’s out of business in CantBuyDeem’s Thumb music video. The hip-hop and R&B artist has carved out a defined role for herself in Chicago’s musical community. With a seamless blend of social consciousness and uncompromising agency, L11 owns her sexuality proudly in the face of objectification. “You gotta wait, wait, wait, til I say go/ you gotta understand me if I say no”, she raps on the track Consent, a sultry bop with crisp, decidedly NSFW visuals by Rena Naltsas. According to the video’s description on YouTube, the song was created in partnership with the Chicago Votes Give a Shit collective to address the necessity of consent, as it builds trust and makes fantasies a reality. Since her 2015 debut project Nefertiti, L11’s artistry has been honed to a razor’s edge. Encompassing soulful melodies like those that fill the island vibe-tinged Spring (Self Love) as well as scathing bars to remind listeners she is not to be mesesd with. On the twerk-inducing W.A.N she delivers a cold dose of reality to leagues of fake thugs and other would-be suitors. “You ain’t even got no goals, lil n****, I fuck around and snatch you right up out your soul, lil n****”, raps L11 over tumbling percussion. A true master of her brand, she is designed a line of Good Pussy Energy merch to rep the self-produced anthem of the same title. She handles her business and expects anyone she lets herself get involved with to do the same, declaring “energy so pure I swear my demons steady duckin’”. Recently L11’s latest single B has been racking up plays, as one could expect with a beat from a union of the artists signature assertiveness and powerhouse producer DJ Skoli. In a dynamic script-flip of rap’s favorite and most controversial term for a woman, she wastes no time letting the people know; “B is for bitch, say it loud…When you see me, I be killing this shit.” At this stage in the game, L11 has shown not only potential but real progress while maintaining an entirely authentic voice that rings relatable for strong women and those who admire them. Whether putting it down on stage or in another artfully-directed video, we cannot wait to see what is next for this promising femme fatale.

Essse Guey All Day (Music Video)

Everybody has an artist they listen to all day on repeat no matter how many times they have heard them. Come across ESSSE Guey and you might find yourself in a similar predicament. Fusing a bit of Hispanic culture and lyricism into Hip Hop he adds a unique touch to his already outlandish persona. A persona that videographer Lonnie Edwards captures nicely, again through imagery with a second music video project for ESSSE following his V.I.M.M. (Let It Reign) music video.

Linking up with fellow Chicago Hip Hop head who recently released his own EP dubbed Pure Noon, RhymSter hits the first verse heavy after letting the beat run off. ESSSE ends it strong with a catchy flow leaving you feeling like hitting that replay button. He releases this track as his first single off his forthcoming project DREAMWORXXX which, judging by this song, is likely to be filled with plenty raw and authentic hip hop and nothing less. No official release dates yet so lets stay updated on his links & browse his latest releases.

Goodsex Gives Us Joy and Groovy Vibes

Goodsex is just here to show you how good you already are and it shows! Aside from all the great puns that you and I both have running through our minds, it is important to realize the power of music and the message it can send to its listeners. This Chicago duo takes that idea an extra mile sending positive messages and high vibes to their fans in each song they put out. From their originals to their remixes, all their songs do is make you believe in love!

Their latest project comes to fruition after a simple request of their fans. From their EP With Friends Vol. 1 the duo has a song called Joy and they ask their audience to send in footage of themselves enjoying life! The end result is a music video compilation of people having the time of their lives and you just cannot help but wiggle around and smile at the expression of life and love. This follows a remix collaboration of Birthday Sex with another familiar Chicago duo Birthdayy Partyy and a remake of a classic funk pop song Reach Out Of The Darkness by Friend & Lover. Their cycle of feel good lyrics and tunes makes a great playlist for people to get together and we think that’s So Groovy. It is most admirable creating a lifestyle through music that makes others feel good regardless of who they are.

GoodSex – Joy feat. Desi Valentine (Original Mix) [MUSIC VIDEO]

RhymSter and Edmur Quinn Capture a Nocturnal Vibe on “Pure Noon”

Ever Evolved MC RhymSter is back again and with a vengeance with his first release of 2019 entitled Pure Noon. This 5-track offering — which includes a bonus track at the end — sees RhymSter and producer Edmur Quinn finding their pocket by utilizing a lo-fi, nocturnal sound.

The EP kicks off with a banger Maintainin where RhymSter takes his listeners to school by flexing his lyrical muscle over a bright and soulful instrumental. However the pace of the EP immediately slows down after with I Will which manifests itself as the perfect soundtrack for a night-time drive soaked in self-reflection. The closing 2 tracks N.Y.S.M. and Wait For It follow in a similar vein before things pick back up again on the bonus track Watch Out.

Lyrically RhymSter is poignant as usual. On the more hard hitting cuts his wordplay is witty and his delivery is sharp. On the slower, more subdued tracks he is more introspective and personal. He shows himself to be a truly multi-faceted artist over the course of these five tracks. On the production side of things Edmur Quinn presents a diverse palette here while simultaneously maintaining the concise cohesiveness of the project. Tracks such as Maintainin’ and Watch Out are hard hitting boom-bap cuts while I Will and Wait For It are much more moody and lo-fi.

The features on here deliver as well. FAFA, who is featured on Wait For It, croons with sincerity over a gorgeous jazzy guitar. JaiTheArtist shows up on the back end of I Will and her vocals sound angelic floating in the background. RhymSter and Edmur Quinn kept it simple on this project. However in between RhymSter’s witty lyricism and Edmur Quinn’s diverse array of instrumentals, their formula proved to be quite effective.

Mother Nature Keeps It Simple (Music Video)

If you have not heard of the refreshing girl power duo that is Mother Nature go look them up on YouTube right now. Charisma, lyricism, fun, artistic chemistry – these two have all of that. The Chicago native powerhouse duo comprised of emcees Klevah Knox and T.R.U.T.H. dropped the visual to their single Simple, which is from their upcoming 2019 EP titled Pressure. If the rest of their record is anything sonically like this first single Simple, then I think these two talents will really propel themselves forward in 2019!

The visual done by New Trash has the two ladies in black and white checkerboard pants and multi colored tops. They start off performing in front of a changing green screen with kids as their gaffers, directors, cinematographers, and lighting crew! The hook to this song is super catchy: “I do not do what you’re doing, bitch you’re simple!… I am me and you are you, bitch you’re simple!” Then the visual progresses from there with a verse and a bridge from Klevah Knox and a verse from T.R.U.T.H keeping the high energy, fun, and intensity through out. I am excited to hear and see the rest of Pressure from Mother Nature in 2019. They represent something truly positive for hip hop and their image and sound as artists is what I want to be around to write about.

Rich Jones No Clue (Music Video)

Well if you missed it the first time it is back around and you get the visual sensation of it too. Others may get to reminisce their initial response to this track but whether it is heard it now or then, it is timeless. No Clue featuring Mykele Deville comes back on the radar as Rich Jones releases a nonchalant music video for this laid back track. Strolling around being natural not thinking bout next year or even next week with No clue how happy to be. This work follows his The Shoulder To Lean On EP and Dangerous/Rainy Days releases that are just as replay-able with their infectious hip hop, R&B, Rock & Soul vibe that can hit any listeners ears in the right spot. Get in tune.

BeatrixKiddo Whips Out A Stogie (Music Video)

Applying the name after Kill Bills’ main yellow leather jacketed protagonist, from Chicago Beatrix Kiddo is in the streets just killin’ beats with her latest visual release for her single Stogie, produced by BKR & Josh Petruccio. With lyrics like “Got big grams coming, gotta kick it with the hustle, I’m a big ass bitch I don’t need the fuckin muscle“, you already know she got a tongue as sharp as a swords blade! CVO Films behind the camera as Kiddo sits like a boss with some hitters at her side, always sportin some unique and obscure lens glaring back at you. Nothing off put or out of place this is her natural environment, “Lighting a stogie blunt… middle fingers up not giving a single F*ck”.
