If you have been following Mat Zo as you should, the man comes up with some pretty intricate pieces of audio pretty much all the time. He has been rustling up the sound wave vibrations lately, you know, making some noise. Since his last string of original releases and of course fiddling with tech house and jungle sound ideas, Mat has just been out remixing everything. You go Mat, show ’em how it’s done.
We start off with his remix of Porter Robinson’s track Flicker. Reuniting the two like minded producers who have collaborated before. Porter Robinson praising this track as one of the best remixes he has ever received in his entire life; and rightly so. Everytime Mat Zo makes music it seems as if it is second nature to him, constantly pushing the limits and genre barriers, learning and growing better everyday!
The Knocks dance track Collect My Love featuring Alex Lowell gets a redesign by Mat. Giving it a more moodier and euphoric over tone on the build ups and break downs and that Electro Zo vibe, this remix is still one to move your feet too; he mixes it up perfectly. The Knocks and Zo collabed before as well on Get Down 2 Get Up and the trio plan to make much more music together as they told Billboard. In a quick interview on the release Zo stated that he loved working with them and they said Zo was “freakishly talented” and they already have a handful of songs they are all working on together. Expect more from them.
Mat revisits old buddy Arty as well on his remix of Stronger featuring Ray Dalton. Zo and Arty worked together previously on tracks like Rebound and Mozart. A couple of progressive house tracks early in their career that showcased their early talents. Would love to see another collaboration between the two now that they are both older and wiser! We will have to wait and see if that happens.
We cannot say much on what antics Mat Zo is up to next. His label Mad Zoo is working great and he continues to release free tracks like his Stronger Remix for simple reasons. We do know for sure though that he is working on new music. He did release a real cool new Mat Zo logo, but that is not how we found out. The man himself celebrated on Twitter that he started the first song of his 3rd album. So new logo, new music, new chapter in Mat Zo. If his new album is anything like his last LP Damage Control then you are going to want to stay tuned for this. Zo has got some real talent up his sleeves and he can take over if he wants to.
